On 1 Oct 05 Deputy Sheriff Evans attempted
to conduct a traffic stop on State Route 821 after observing
the driver of a motorcycle travel left of the center line on
two occasions. The driver of the motorcycle, later identified
as Larry C. Knoch, age 64, 835 Stanleyville Narrows Road, Whipple,
accelerated and gave chase. As the pursuit continued Mr. Knoch
forced several approaching vehicle off the side of the road
by either traveling in the center or in the opposite lane of
travel. Finally ceasing on DAV Road after circling from State
Route 821 to Stanleyville Narrows and back to DAV Road, Deputy
Evans arrested Mr. Knoch for failure to comply with the order/signal
of an officer, for driving left of center, failure to obey
a traffic control device and reckless operation and transported
him to the Washington County Jail.
On 1 Oct 05 Deputy Sheriff Evans conducted
a traffic stop after witnessing a vehicle fail to signal when
turning from Huck Road onto Waterford Road and later traveling
left of the center dividing line. Noticing an odor of alcohol
as well as the driver’s glassy bloodshot eyes, Deputy
Evans administered field sobriety tests on John. J. Hogan,
age 43, 3783 Waterford Road, Marietta. Following Mr. Hogan’s
poor performance on the tests, Deputy Evans arrested him for
OVI and for driving left of center and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
On 1 Oct 05 Deputy Sheriff Kapple issued a
citation to Roger L. Newberry, age 21, 803C Fifth Street, Marietta,
for traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Kapple stopped
Mr. Newberry on State Route 7 near Blue Knob Road in Warren
Township.
On 1 Oct 05 Ryan Nichols, age 29, 341 Tadpole
Run Road, Marietta, reported a friend, who is watching his
residence while he is in jail, informed him an unknown suspect(s)
broke into the garage of his residence and stole a number of
tools. This case remains under investigation (586).
On 1 Oct 05 Calvin Dixon, age 18, 704 Center
Street, Beverly, reported sometime over the past five days
a bow and a shotgun were stolen from a closet in his home.
This case remains under investigation (1203).

Larry Clyde Knoch, age 64, 835 Stanleyville
Narrows Road, Whipple, for a felony charge of failure to comply
with the order/signal of an officer and for misdemeanor charges
of driving left of center, failure to obey a traffic control
device and reckless operation. Knoch was arrested on State
Route 821 by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 1 Oct 05 at 12:01 am.
Terrel Coy Davis, age 21, 713 Mary Street, Belpre, for violating
the terms of his probation and for failure to appear at a court
ordered hearing on unpaid fines, both misdemeanors. Davis was
picked up at the Athens County line by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 1 Oct 05 at
1:40 am.
Derek Michael Fortney, age 23, 2208 State Route 339, Belpre,
for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Fortney was arrested
at his residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 1 Oct
05 at 10:35 am.
Gregory Leo Levitre, age 31, 280 ½ Muskingum Drive,
Marietta, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Levitre was
arrested at his residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 1 Oct 05 at 2:30 pm.
John Joseph Hogan, age 43, 3783 Waterford Road, Marietta,
for OVI and for driving left of center, both misdemeanors.
Hogan was arrested on Waterford Road by Deputy Sheriff Evans
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 1 Oct 05 at
11:54 pm.
