On 22 Sep 05 Deputy Sheriff Evans observed
a vehicle with an expired registration driven by Jewel D. Cameron,
age 51, 1249 Coventry Road, Akron, following another vehicle
in close proximity and conducted a traffic stop near milepost
fourteen on Interstate 77. After the K-9 performed a search
of the exterior of the vehicle indicated the presence of drugs,
Deputy Evans located a baggie of marijuana under the driver’s
seat. Mr. Cameron admitted being the owner of the contraband
and issued a minor misdemeanor citation for possession of marijuana.
On 22 Sep 05, in light of recent home burglaries,
Deputy Sheriff Spencer conducted a traffic stop after observing
the driver of an Eagle Talon operating in a suspicious manner
before pulling into a driveway on State Route 339. Making contact
with the suspects after they exited the vehicle, Brent D. Hescht,
age 19, 388 Ross Road, Little Hocking, admitted to Deputy Spencer
his driving privileges were suspended and also granted Deputy
Spencer permission to search his vehicle. During his search
of the vehicle and subsequent pat down of Mr. Hescht Deputy
Spencer discovered two baggies of marijuana along with a marijuana
pipe. As a result, Deputy Spencer arrested Mr. Hescht for driving
under a suspended license, for possession of drugs and for
possession of drug paraphernalia and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
On 22 Sep 05 a sixteen year old Belpre resident
reported when she arrived home from school she observed two
individuals, one of whom is her brother’s acquaintance
and did not have permission to be in the home, exiting through
the front door of her home. This case remains under investigation
(945, 1183).
On 22 Sep 05 Deputy Sheriff Eddy responded
to a domestic violence complaint at the home of Dinita Stegner,
age 34, 752 Luke Chute Road, Waterford. During an argument,
Mrs. Stegner stated her husband Edward, age 45, grabbed her
leg and forced her to fall to the floor. Hearing his mother’s
distress call, Andy Rowland, age 18, entered the room with
a wooden board to fend off Mr. Stegner. Unable to grab the
board, Mr. Stegner pushed on it, causing it to strike Mr. Rowland
in the head. Mr. Stegner absconded before Deputy Eddy arrived,
hence Deputy Eddy requested a warrant for Mr. Stegner for two
counts of domestic violence.
On 22 Sep 05 Deputy Sheriff Stackpole conducted
a canine search of the exterior of a vehicle he stopped for
following another vehicle too closely on Interstate 77. Aboo
indicated the presence of drugs, at which time Matthew B. White,
age 25, 709 Gordon Drive, Charleston, WV, admitted possessing
a small quantity of marijuana. Deputy Stackpole confiscated
the drugs and issued Mr. White a minor misdemeanor citation
for possession of marijuana.
On 22 Sep 05 Jessica Lowery, age 26, 2460
State Route 145, Lower Salem, reported her live-in boyfriend
Wayne D. Miller, age 29, assaulted her after she confronted
him over his amorous exploits with another woman. Ms. Lowery
stated as she packed her belongings to move out, Mr. Miller
threw her down onto the porch and shoved his arm over her mouth
to muffle her cries for help. Determining Ms. Lowery was in
fear for her safety Deputy Parks arrested Mr. Miller for domestic
violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Kenneth Eugene Burns Jr., age 32, 505 20th
Street, Vienna, for OVI, for theft, for possession of drugs
and for possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
Burns was arrested on Washington Boulevard in Belpre by Patrolman
Jobes of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 22 Sep 05 at 3:50 am.
Brent David Hescht, age 19, 388 Ross Road, Little Hocking,
for driving under a suspended license, for possession of drugs
and for possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
Hescht was arrested on State Route 339 by Deputy Sheriff Spencer
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Sep 05
at 4:00 pm.
