On 16 Sep 05 an employee of Byer’s Exxon,
26960 State Route 7, Marietta, reported the driver of a Dodge
Dakota bumped into an ice machine outside the business and
fled the scene. Identified by his license plate number, Jesse
R. Hilverding, age 19, 67 Anderson Road, Fleming, was later
stopped by the Marietta City Police Department and ordered
to contact Deputy Sheriff Willson the following day. When questioned,
Mr. Hilverding admitted accidentally striking the machine then
panicked and fled the scene because he believed he had alcohol
on his breath from several hours before. Because Mr. Hilverding
is under twenty-one, Deputy Willson requested a summons for
him for underage consumption of alcohol.
On 16 Sep 05 April L. Hostottle, age 35, 5330
Bethany Ridge, Guysville, reported between 11 and 16 Sep at
the Double R Ranch in Little Hocking, her camping trailer and
that of her friend were forcibly entered, ransacked and had
numerous items stolen from inside. This case remains under
investigation (292).
On 16 Sep 05, while on patrol, Deputy Sheriff
Rhodes encountered a vehicle stopped in the roadway on Sheets
Run Road. Offering assistance to the driver, Roger W. Thomas,
age 54, 2085 Sheets Run Road, New Matamoras, Deputy Rhodes
noticed an odor of alcohol and requested Mr. Thomas submit
to field sobriety tests. Following Mr. Thomas’ poor performance
on the tests Deputy Rhodes arrested him for OVI and transported
him to the Washington County Jail.
On 16 Sep 05 Gary M. Rose, age 56, 15293 State
Route 555, Cutler, reported after setting the parking brake
on his Ford F-250 and returning inside to retrieve his glasses,
the unoccupied truck rolled down a hill across his property,
across State Route 555 and into a creek. No injuries were reported;
the vehicle sustained heavy damage.
On 16 Sep 05 after stopping a vehicle driven
by Russell Koz III, age 20, 1361 Manor Park Avenue, Lakewood,
OH, for driving with expired tags, Deputy Sheriff Mankins also
noticed a case of beer on the floor between the two backseat
passengers and two open cans of beer. Donald A. Nemeth, age
18, 4354 West 191st Street, Cleveland, and a seventeen year
old female resident of Bay Village, OH, claimed ownership of
the open containers. In consequence, Deputy Mankins arrested
Mr. Nemeth for underage possession of alcohol and transported
him to the Washington County Jail while the juvenile was released
to the custody of her parents pending delinquency charges.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Chris Alan Connell, age 36, PO Box 351, Waterford,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Connell was arrested
at Connell’s Pizza in Beverly by Patrolman Oliver of
the Beverly Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 16 Sep 05 at 1:30 am.
Robert Jonathan Huffman, age 24, 797 Channel Lane, Marietta,
for breaking and entering, a felony. Huffman was arrested on
Snider Way in Belpre by Patrolman Jobes of the Belpre City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 16 Sep 05 at 2:09 am.
Timothy Scott Mackey, age 24, 1247 Sealy Ridge Road, Vincent,
for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Mackey was arrested at
Dunham Square by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 16 Sep 05 at 9:20 am.
Roger Lee Ward, age 27, 1225 Weppler Road,
Lowell, for robbery, a felony. Ward was picked up at the Noble
Correctional Institute by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 16 Sep 05 at 10:15 am.
Howard Edward Baker, age 33, 323 Seventh Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Baker
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Sep 05 at 1:50
pm.
Dwight Keith Masters Jr., age 37, 4213 Jefferson Street, Parkersburg,
for violating the terms of his probation and for having an
expired registration, both misdemeanors. Masters was arrested
on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 16 Sep 05 at 2:45 pm.
Donald Anthony Nemeth, age 18, 4354 191st Street, Cleveland,
for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Nemeth
was arrested at the intersection of Third and Greene Streets
in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 16 Sep 05 at 3:30 pm.
Jacob Andrew Wood, age 19, 27585 State Route 7 Apt. B, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Wood was
arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 16 Sep 05 at 3:50 pm.
Roger William Thomas, age 54, 2085 Leigh Run Road, New Matamoras,
for .08 breath OVI, a misdemeanor. Thomas was arrested on Sheets
Run Drive by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 16 Sep 05 at 11:10 pm.
Anthony William Kennedy, age 22, 2641 Maxine NE, Canton, for
felony charges of receiving stolen property and aggravated
robbery and a misdemeanor charge of theft. Kennedy was arrested
in Marietta by Patrolman Sury of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Sep 05
at 11:30 pm.
