On 9 Sep 05 Deputy Sheriff Parks issued a citation to Mary E. Offenberger, age 40, 107 Pennsylvania Avenue, Marietta, for traveling 67 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Day stopped Ms. Offenberger on State Route 550 near County Road 10 in Warren Township.

On 9 Sep 05 Lt. Canavan issued a citation to Sandra L. Taylor, age 48, 28645 State Route 7, New Matamoras, for failing to stop at a red light. Lt. Canavan stopped Ms. Taylor in a construction zone at milepost forty-two on State Route 7 in Newport Township.

On 9 Sep 05 an employee of Larry’s Car Sales, 26380 State Route 7, Marietta, reported at approximately 8:10 that evening he observed a male with dark complexion attempt to steal the hubcaps off a Dodge Intrepid on the car lot. This case remains under investigation (1071).

On 9 Sep 05 a thirty-eight year old Lowell resident reported for the last year her sixteen year old son has continuously refuses to take his medication for ADD, to do household chores and to awake in a timely manner for school. As a result of the juvenile’s behavior, Sgt. Gherke requested a summons for the sixteen year old to appear in Juvenile Court for being unruly.

On 9 Sep 05 Sgt. Underwood responded to the scene of the death of a seventy-seven year old Marietta resident. The woman’s death appears to be natural, no foul play is suspected.

On 9 Sep 05 Deputy Sheriff Evans investigated several reports of a suspicious vehicle in the Deerhaven Drive area. Locating the vehicle as it traveled southbound on Sandhill Road, Deputy Evans conducted a traffic stop. Through a computer check Deputy Evans learned the driver of the vehicle, Dean L. Phillips, age 27, 404 ½ Montgomery Street, Marietta, had an OVI suspended license. Mr. Phillips admitted consuming nine or ten beers earlier and had red, bloodshot eyes. Citing Mr. Phillips’ poor performance on field sobriety tests, Deputy Evans arrested him for OVI and for driving under a suspended license and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 9 Sep 05 Deputy Evans observed a vehicle turn from State Route 60 onto McCain Street in Lowell without using a turn signal and initiated a traffic stop. Identifying the driver as Ira D. Blair Jr., age 20, 312 Third Street Apt. 1, Lowell, Deputy Evans learned Mr. Blair’s license is suspended. When asked about odors of alcohol about their person, Mr. Blair and his passenger Matthew R. Jett, age 20, 209 Fifth Street, Lowell, each admitted consuming alcohol prior to the traffic stop. Following Mr. Blair’s poor performance on field sobriety tests, Deputy Evans arrested him for OVI, underage consumption of alcohol and for driving under a suspended license and along with Mr. Jett, who was arrested for underage consumption of alcohol, transported to the Washington County Jail.

Timothy J. Fought, age 39, PO Box 142, Washington, WV, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on an order to show cause on 22 Aug 05.

David C. Knox, age 21, 606 East McConnell Avenue Apt. 2, McConnelsville, for failure to appear, having been indicted for breaking and entering.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Michael Allen Lee Miller, age 21, 613 Eighth Street Apt. 4, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, for operating with an expired or without an operator’s license and for speeding. Miller was arrested on State Route 550 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 12:40 am.

Aaron Matthew Hess, age 26, 110 Deer Haven Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Hess was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 12:45 am.

Darrell Allen Leasure, age 42, 1452 Barth Road, Belpre, for being a fugitive from justice and for misdemeanor charges of passing bad checks and for failure to appear. Leasure was arrested on State Route 550 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 2:00 am.

Sherry Ann Adams, age 35, 1446 Barth Road, Belpre, for OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel, both misdemeanors. Adams was arrested on County Road 50 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 2:20 am.

Ira David Blair Jr., age 20, 312 Third Street Apt. 1, Lowell, for OVI, for driving under a suspended license and for underage consumption of alcohol, all misdemeanors. Blair was arrested on Third Street in Lowell by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 2:40 am.

Matthew Richard Jett, age 20, 209 Fifth Street Ext., Lowell, for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Jett was arrested in Lowell by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 3:05 am.

Dean Leroy Phillips, age 27, 404 ½ Montgomery Street, Marietta, for .08 breath OVI, for driving under an OVI suspended license and for violating the terms of his probation, all misdemeanors. Phillips was arrested on Sandhill Road by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 4:45 am.

Shawn Harold Miller, age 35, 12720 State Route 60, Lowell, for .08 breath OVI, for failure to signal, for failure to reinstate his operator’s license, for driving outside the marked lanes of travel and for operating with license plates belonging to the vehicle’s former owner, all misdemeanors. Miller was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 2:45 pm.

Trent William Offenberger, age 30, 306 Colegate Drive, Marietta, for rape, a felony. Offenberger was arrested at his residence by Detective Smithberger of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 2:50 pm.

Jessica Lynn Mantz, age 27, 829 Ridge Street, Marietta, for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Mantz was arrested at her residence by Detective Warden of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 4:00 pm.

Louis Roe Cavillis, age 34, 116 Harmar Street, Marietta, for assault, for aggravated menacing and for violating the terms of his probation and of a protection order, all misdemeanors. Cavillis was arrested at the Marietta City Police Department by Probation Officer Ketelsen and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 6:50 pm.

Katie Elizabeth Brunton, age 24, 44 Hempstep Road, Westerville, OH, for driving under a suspended license and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Brunton was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Sep 05 at 7:01 pm.
