On 6 Sep 05 Joanna Smith, age 29, 2725 Sparling
Road, Waterford, reported being assaulted by her husband Douglas,
age 33, 1001 Third Street, Marietta, the previous evening.
Mrs. Smith stated she and her husband were arguing outside
her residence and she tried to leave her property but was rebuffed
by Mr. Smith. She then attempted to enter her residence but
was again blocked by Mr. Smith and had to force her way inside.
A scuffle ensued, during which time Mr. Smith grabbed his wife
by the head and slammed her head into a kitchen cabinet. Escaping
his clutches, Mrs. Smith was running toward a bedroom when
Mr. Smith ripped a handful of hair from her head. This being
Mr. Smith’s second offense of domestic violence, Deputy
Sheriff Evans charged him with a felony and transported him
to the Washington County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Debbie Ann Aker, age 45, 759A State Route
2, Point Pleasant, WV, for driving under an OVI suspended license
and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel, both misdemeanors.
Aker was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by Patrolman
Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 6 Sep 05 at 1:06 am.
Douglas Edward Smith, age 33, 1001 Third Street, Marietta,
for a felony charge of domestic violence and for misdemeanor
charges of contempt of a court order and obstructing official
business. Smith was arrested in Waterford by Lt. Wilson of
the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 6 Sep 05 at 2:05 am.
Jesse James Caplinger, age 23, 1206 Drag Strip Road, Belpre,
for a felony charge of OVI and for misdemeanor charges of failure
to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, for driving
under a suspended license, for resisting arrest, for giving
false information to avoid a ticket and for driving outside
the marked lanes of travel. Caplinger was arrested in Belpre
Township by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 6 Sep 05 at 4:40 am.
Lagarbia Johnson, age 28, Caldwell, for felonious
assault. Johnson was picked up at the Noble Correctional Institution
by Deputy Sheriff Farrell and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 6 Sep 05 at 9:45 am.
Jerry Lynn Watson Jr., age 21, 1320 Colonial Drive, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation and for domestic violence,
both misdemeanors. Watson was arrested at his residence by
Probation Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 6 Sep 05 at 11:00 am.
Stephen Lanise McRhea, age 42, 205 Fifth Street, Marietta,
for domestic violence and for failure to pay income tax, penalties
or interest, both misdemeanors. McRhea was arrested on Front
Street in Marietta by Patrolman Hively of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 6 Sep 05 at 3:00 pm.
