On 27 Aug 05 Corrections Officer Young noticed
a green leafy substance resembling marijuana in the bottom
of the washing machine after laundering the clothing of inmate
David T. Close, age 35, 105 Race Street, Marietta. Searching
the clothing further, Officer Young discovered a plastic baggie
in the front right pocket of Mr. Close’s pants containing
what appeared to be the stem of a marijuana leaf. In consequence
Mr. Close was charged with illegal conveyance of contraband
into a correctional facility, a third degree felony.
On 27 Aug 05 Lisa D. Porter, age 26, 1009
Colegate Drive, Marietta, reported she believes a friend spiked
one of her drinks with PCP three and a half weeks ago. After
an investigation Deputy Sheriff Willson determined the allegation
was unfounded.
On 27 Aug 05 Deputy Sheriff Stackpole investigated
a report of a male passenger in a white pickup truck making
threatening statements at 2720 Beach Drive, Belpre. Locating
and stopping behind the vehicle with its backing lights on,
Deputy Stackpole observed the driver, Larry W. Byers, age 40,
2720 Beach Drive Apt. 2, Belpre, exit the vehicle holding an
open bottle of beer. Subsequently Deputy Stackpole administered
a series of field sobriety tests, on which Mr. Byers performed
poorly. As a result, Deputy Stackpole arrested Mr. Byers for
OVI and for driving under a suspended license and transported
him to the Washington County Jail.
On 27 Aug 05 Deputy Sheriffs Rhodes and Smithberger
conducted a traffic stop on Dawes Circle after noticing a passenger
in a vehicle they knew to have a criminal warrant. Following
a computer check of the driver’s license Deputy Smithberger
issued a citation to Matthew S. Nixon, age 23, 26115 State
Route 7, Marietta, for driving under a suspended license.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Augustine Brunoni Jr., age 25, 60 Heater Road,
Newport, for driving under an FRA suspended license, a misdemeanor.
Brunoni was arrested on State Route 7 in Newport by Deputy
Sheriff Parks and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 27 Aug 05 at 2:15 am.
Douglas Brian Lauderman, age 42, 817 St Marys Avenue, Marietta,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Lauderman was arrested
on at his residence by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 27 Aug 05 at 2:15 am.
Larry Wayne Byers, age 40, 2720 Beach Drive Lot 2, Belpre,
for violating the terms of his probation, for OVI with a previous
conviction and for driving under a suspended license, all misdemeanors.
Byers was arrested at his residence by Probation Officer Ketelsen
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Aug 05
at 6:30 am.
Jay Donald Hart, age 56, 1207 Greene Street, Marietta, for
failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Hart was arrested at his
residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27
Aug 05 at 9:35 am.
Barnett Willie Glover, age 30, 17977 State Route 26, Reno,
for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Glover was arrested
at Colonial Terrace by Deputy Sheriff Smithberger and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 27 Aug 05 at 6:35 pm.
Matthew Sanford Nixon, age 23, 26115 State Route 7, Marietta,
for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Nixon
was arrested at Colonial Terrace by Deputy Sheriff Smithberger
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Aug 05
at 6:52 pm.
