On 21 Aug 05 while on patrol on State Route
26, Detective Jenkins observed an approaching vehicle with
only one operable headlight. Turning to follow the vehicle,
Detective Jenkins observed the driver travel left of center
and was informed by dispatch the vehicle’s registration
expired in April. Despite the driver, Peter A. Bowersock, age
20, 25675 State Route 676, New Matamoras, claiming the odor
of alcohol emanating from the vehicle was caused by a friend
spilling beer on him, Mr. Bowersock performed poorly on field
sobriety tests. Consequently, Detective Jenkins arrested Mr.
Bowersock for OVI, for failure to register and for one headlight
and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 21 Aug 05 Sgt. Underwood and Deputy Sheriff
Ortiz investigated a domestic dispute at 118 Schilling Street,
Marietta. Leona L. Best, age 79, alleged that her husband of
sixty-two years slapped her across the right ear. Because Mrs.
Best’s husband also claimed he was assaulted and that
neither party was in fear for their safety the Deputies closed
this case as unfounded.
On 21 Aug 05 Phillip M. Cring Jr., age 36,
613 Carson Lane, Little Hocking, reported a neighbor, against
whom he has a protection order, allegedly violated the protection
order as the two met while walking along Carson Lane that morning.
Succeeding an investigation, Deputy Sheriff Kapple concluded
no violation occurred.
On 21 Aug 05 Ellen Mumma, age 65, 900 Turkey
Hollow Road, Cutler, reported between Friday evening and Sunday
morning an unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked home and
stole a twelve pack of Pepsi, a half gallon of orange juice
and a container of cocoa mix. This case remains under investigation
(586).
On 21 Aug 05 Wesley J. Blair, age 44, 29765
State Route 7, Marietta, reported when he returned from a weekend
camping he noticed two wheels and the transmission missing
from a Pontiac Grand Am he owns for parts. Contacting the suspect
in the theft, Deputy Sheriff Simmons determined the theft was
a misunderstanding and closed the case as unfounded.
On 21 Aug 05 Rebecca L. Brown, age 34, 4995
Oak Hill Road, Stockport, reported after recovering her daughter’s
lost purse in the men’s room during the Waterford Fair,
the mother and daughter determined a Nokia flip phone and five
dollars were missing from the purse. This case remains under
investigation (296).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Peter Andrew Bowersock, age 20, 25675 State
Route 26, New Matamoras, for .08 breath OVI, for failure to
register and for having a faulty headlight, all misdemeanors.
Bowersock was arrested on State Route 26 by Detective Jenkins
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 21 Aug 05 at 2:25 am.
Ashlei Georgerianne Powell, age 20, PO Box 1967, Mineral Wells,
for .08 breath OVI, for speeding and for possession of drug
paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Powell was arrested on Main
Street in Belpre by Patrolman Clevenger of the Belpre City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 21 Aug 05 at 5:30 am.
Joshua Nathan Nichols, age 23, HCR 74 Box 97, Alma, WV, for
.08 breath OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of
travel, both misdemeanors. Nichols was arrested in Belpre by
the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 21 Aug 05 at 6:15 am.
Edward George Hune, age 40, 971 Tadpole Run Road, Belpre,
for two misdemeanor counts of failure to appear. Hune was arrested
on State Route 550 by Deputy Sheriff Kapple and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 21 Aug 05 at 3:55 pm.
Joshua James Miller, age 27, 159 Second Lane, Belpre, for
theft, a misdemeanor. Miller was arrested at his residence
by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 21 Aug 05 at 11:10 pm.
