On 15 Aug 05 Sgt. Gherke and Deputy Sheriff
Mankins responded to a 911 hang up call and a report of a gun
being fired at 470 Cornerville Road, Marietta. During the succeeding
investigation Deputy Mankins discerned that Cynthia Wallace,
age 41, PO Box 233, East Fultonham, OH, was engaged in an argument
with the home’s resident, Kenneth Chidester Jr., age
58. According to Mr. Chidester, he was so angry at Mrs. Wallace
that instead of hitting her he decided to fire a single shot
from his nine millimeter handgun into the floor at Mrs. Wallace’s
feet. Being that Mr. Chidester was intoxicated and that Mrs.
Wallace felt he would cause serious harm to her, Deputy Mankins
arrested Mr. Chidester for aggravated menacing and for handling
a weapon while intoxicated and transported him to the Washington
County Jail.
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrants:
Raymond L. Scarbrough, age 49, 407 Lord Street,
Marietta, for an act of domestic violence on 12 Aug 05.
Dallas W. Farnsworth, age 32, 266 Muskingum Drive, Marietta,
contempt of court and for breach of recognizance for failing
to appear for a bench trial on 10 Aug 05.
Keri A. Lafatch, age 27, 1944 Briggs Hill Road, Belpre, for
failing to appear to serve three days in jail on 3 Aug 05.
Jon E. Preston, age 24, 728 Third Street, Marietta, for failing
to appear to serve five days in jail on 5 Aug 05.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Kenneth Forest Chidester, age 58, 470 Cornerville
Road, Reno, for aggravated menacing and for using a weapon
while intoxicated, both misdemeanors. Chidester was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 15 Aug 05 at 7:40 pm.
Eric Wayne Morris, age 23, 836 Pike Street Apt 12, Marietta,
for theft, a misdemeanor. Morris was arrested at Wal-Mart by
Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta City Police Department and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Aug 05 at 8:47
pm.
Steven John Remaley, age 55, PO Box 4453, Parkersburg, for
.08 breath OVI and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Remaley
was arrested on US 50 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Aug 05 at 8:55
pm.
