On 30 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriffs Rhodes and Smithberger
conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operating without functioning
taillights and a defective license plate light. Questioning
the driver, George J. Amos, age 18, 20 Third Avenue, New Matamoras,
and passenger, William C. Creighton, age 19, 616 Main Street,
New Matamoras, because they noticed odor of alcohol, both men
admitted consuming alcohol and that they had beer in the vehicle
they took from Mr. Amos’ parents. Both were arrested
for underage consumption of alcohol and transported to the
Washington County Jail.
On 30 Jul 05 Laurie Binegar, age 44, 2697
County Road 9, Marietta, reported since leaving her river lot
at noon she returned at seven that evening to find a fire burning
and miscellaneous fishing and camping gear missing. This case
remains under investigation (1184).
On 30 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriff Willson was dispatched
to the scene of a disturbance near 19480 State Route 676, Marietta.
A witness to the incident detailed seeing a woman driving down
the road with a man on the hood of her car, honking the horn.
Deputy Willson deduced the driver, Amanda J. Smith, age 26,
19065 State Route 676, Marietta, engage in an argument with
her husband Bobby, age 30, and left their residence with their
three children in tow. Mr. Smith chased along side the vehicle
and jumped on the hood. After stopping, Mr. Smith punched through
the window, allowing his wife to then throw the keys at him.
Mrs. Smith and her children exited the vehicle and Mr. Smith
drove off. As a result of the couple’s actions Deputy
Willson requested summonses for Mr. and Mrs. Smith for disorderly
conduct.
On 30 Jul 05 Michael Bonnette, age 19, 114
Shamrock Drive, Marietta, reported when he awoke at 9 that
morning he discovered pancake syrup and antifreeze poured all
over his 2001 Mustang. Believing the vandalism was an act by
Mr. Bonnette’s nemeses, Deputy Sheriff Parks questioned
a seventeen year old Marietta resident. The juvenile revealed
that Gregory T. Ludolph, age 18, 106 Nelson Avenue, Marietta,
drove him and another seventeen year old to Mr. Bonnette’s
residence where the two juveniles poured liquid on the vehicle
but denied using antifreeze. As a result, Deputy Parks requested
summonses for the juveniles for being delinquent and for Mr.
Ludolph for criminal mischief.
On 30 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriff Kapple issued
a citation to Steve W. Poling, age 20, 1215 West Main Street,
Grafton, WV, for operating without a license. Deputy Kapple
stopped Mr. Poling after observing him riding an ATV on State
Route 339 near milepost two in Belpre Township.
On 30 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriffs Rhodes and Smithberger
initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle operating without a license
plate light. The driver, Jeremy S. Thompson, age 23, 522 Greene
Street, Newport, had glassy eyes and was unaware to which vehicle
his registration belonged. When a K-9 indicated the presence
of drugs in the vehicle Deputy Smithberger found a baggie of
marijuana in Mr. Thompson’s pocket. Deputy Smithberger
issued Mr. Thompson a minor misdemeanor citation for possession
of marijuana and sent him on his way.
On 30 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriff Kapple issued
a citation to Argle F. Mayle, age 20, 809 Hocking Road, Belpre,
for traveling 90 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Kapple stopped
Mr. Mayle on State Route 7 near Joe Skinner Road in Belpre
Township.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jasper Joe Thomas, age 20, 2085 Leith Run
Road, New Matamoras, for OVI, for having an inoperable license
plate light, for possession of drugs and for possession of
drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Thomas was arrested in
New Matamoras by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 30 Jul 05 at 12:20 am.
Robert Dale Dalrymple, age 28, Marietta, for failure to appear
at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor.
Dalrymple was arrested near the Monroe County line by Deputy
Sheriff Smithberger and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 30 Jul 05 at 2:55 am.
Shante Patrice Williams, age 22, 6622 Watermill Court, Charlotte,
NC, for driving under a suspended license and for speeding,
both misdemeanors. Williams was arrested on Interstate 77 by
the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 30 Jul 05 at 6:18 pm.
Keith Alan Francis, age 48, 512 Water Street, Barbersville,
WV, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines and for parking with an expired registration, both misdemeanors.
Francis was arrested on Maple Street in Newport by Deputy Sheriff
Simmons and processed into the Washington County Jail on 30
Jul 05 at 6:45 pm.
