On 26 Jul 05 Lt. Canavan responded to the
scene of the death of an eighty-four year old Vincent woman.
The death appears to be due to natural causes, no foul play
is suspected.
On 26 Jul 05 Lt. Canavan assisted in a traffic
stop conducted on a vehicle driven by Steven L. Felter, age
33, 101 Dudley Avenue, Marietta. Arresting Mr. Felter on a
warrant out of Cambridge, OH, Lt. Canavan discovered a loaded
.32 caliber pistol in the vehicle. Being that Mr. Felter was
convicted of aggravated assault and barred from having such
a weapon, Lt. Canavan charged him with having a weapon while
under disability.
On 26 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriff Mankins responded
to the scene of an altercation at 2455 Muskingum River Road,
Lowell. From witness statements Deputy Mankins began to deduce
that Marshall E. Jones, age 23, 830 Clifton Street, Marietta,
and friends were camping at the aforementioned location when
he was awakened by an unidentified male cutting open his tent.
Details are sketchy at the time, however Mr. Jones remembers
four or five males restraining him, beating him with a flashlight
and slicing him with a blade across the cheek. A member of
the clan made a threatening comment then departed the scene
with the other individuals in a black SUV. This case remains
under investigation.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jon Wesley Rogers, age 20, 712 Cisler Drive,
Marietta, for driving under an FRA suspended license, a misdemeanor.
Rogers was arrested in Oak Grove by Deputy Sheriff Mankins
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 05
at 12:50 am.
Aaron Freeman Farnsworth, age 20, 122 Harmar Street, Marietta,
for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Farnsworth
was arrested on Front Street in Marietta by Patrolman Huffman
of the Marietta City Police Department and was processed into
the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 05 at 3:05 am.
Steven Leroy Felter, age 33, 101 Dudley Avenue, Marietta,
for having a weapon while under disability, a felony. Felter
was arrested on Pike Street in Marietta by Lt. Canavan of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 05 at 4:55 am.
Wesley Allan Morris, age 19, 823 Colegate
Drive, Marietta, for breaking and entering, a felony. Morris
was arrested in Lowell by Detective Johnson of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 26 Jul 05 at 1:00 pm.
Matthew Lester Jones, age 21, Putnam Place Apt. 6, Marietta,
for a felony charge of breaking and entering and a misdemeanor
charge of failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines. Jones was arrested by Detective Johnson of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 26 Jul 05 at 1:08 pm.
Jeremy Duane Cutshaw, age 33, 1222 Two Mile Run Road, Cutler,
for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Cutshaw
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Gilchrist and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 05 at 4:15
pm.
John Aaron Givens, age 24, 100 Linwood Avenue Lot B, Marietta,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Givens was arrested at his residence
by Patrolman Nedeff of the Marietta City Police Department
and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul
05 at 4:55 pm.
Jerry Dean Coleman, age 44, 7188 South Dale Road, Stockport,
for three misdemeanor counts of failure to appear. Coleman
was picked up at the Southeast Regional Jail by Corrections
Officer Reeder and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 26 Jul 05 at 7:00 pm.
Ronald Ralph McCrady, age 58, 618 Depot Street, Belpre, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. McCrady
was arrested at his residence by Probation Officer Hamilton
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 05
at 7:55 pm.
