On 23 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriff Parks issued a
citation to Danita K. Hiley, age 45, Route 1 Box 223, West
Union, WV, for failure to obey a traffic control device. Deputy
Parks stopped Ms. Hiley after she failed to stop at the intersection
of State Route 7 and State Route 807 in Newport Township.
On 23 Jul 05 Jessica D. Beaver, age 23, 101
Evans Street, Newport, phoned the Sheriff’s Office to
report her former boyfriend and father of her child, Jason
D. Smith, age 27, 40 Mitchell Street, Newport, assaulted her
when she delivered property to him for the care of their child.
Mrs. Beaver further elaborated that she was speaking calmly
when Mr. Smith began shouting and threatening to shoot her
husband and father in law. Attempting to flee the situation,
Mr. Smith also struck Mrs. Beaver as she sat in the driver’s
seat of her vehicle. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff Simmons arrested
Mr. Smith for domestic violence and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
On 23 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriff Malone began an
investigation to a breaking and entering at Drayer Service
Center and at Lang’s Flooring on BF Goodrich Road in
Marietta. The owner of Drayer reported no property missing
while the owner of Lang’s reported $80-120 stolen from
the cash box in his desk drawer. This case remains under investigation.
On 23 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriff McLeish responded
to the scene of a domestic dispute at 208 ½ Seventh
Street, Beverly. Upon arrival Angela M. Thompson, age 26, stated
her live-in boyfriend Ramey L. Hart, age 28, assaulted her.
When she refused Mr. Hart’s request to use the car to
go out and party, she stated he grabbed a brick and began breaking
the side windows, mirrors and the windshield of the vehicle
before turning on her. Running into their apartment, Mr. Hart
followed her and struck her to the floor with a chair then
commenced kicking her then absconded. Therefrom his behavior,
Deputy McLeish requested a warrant for Mr. Hart for domestic
violence.
On 23 Jul 05 a forty-six year old Little Hocking
resident reported when she unplugged the family computer because
her foster son would not decrease the volume, the fifteen year
old became verbally abusive, pushed her against the wall and
demanded she allow him to listen to the music. When she refused
the juvenile struck her in the arm and threatened to have his
friends harm her, then stormed off to his bedroom and punching
the door. As a result of the juvenile’s actions Sgt.
Gherke requested a summons for the juvenile to appear in Juvenile
Court and also that he be removed from the residence.
On 23 Jul 05 Sgt. Gherke responded to a report
of a 2002 Chevy Silverado stolen from Catfisherman’s
Paradise on State Route 7. Upon further investigation Sgt.
Gherke ascertained that a juvenile on a work detail from the
Washington County Juvenile Detention Center fled his trash
collecting duties to the catfish pond, stole the truck and
headed south on State Route 7 at a high rate of speed. In consequence
Sgt. Gherke requested a warrant for the fifteen year old for
being delinquent.
On 23 Jul 05 Ella M. Newlon, age 57, 2570
Lowell Hill Road, reported between 5 pm and midnight that night
an unknown individual entered her vehicle, stealing her purse
containing $240 and three credit cards. This case remains under
investigation (296).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jeremy Ray Braun, age 21, 195 Caywood Road,
Marietta, for failure to appear and for possession of drugs,
both misdemeanors. Braun was arrested on state Route 821 by
the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 23 Jul 05 at 12:05 am.
Dustin Keith Venham, age 25, 1060 Sugar Run Road, Marietta,
for operating without a license, for having faulty equipment
and for being a repeat traffic offender, all misdemeanors.
Venham was arrested on state Route 821 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22
Jul 05 at 12:05 am.
Amanda Marie Chestnut, age 38, 2068 Red Barn Lane, Bowling
Green, FL, for OVI, for driving under an OVI suspended license,
for criminal damaging/endangering and for two counts of breach
of recognizance, all misdemeanors. Chestnut was picked up in
Okeechobee, FL by Deputy Sheriff Doak and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 23 Jul 05 at 5:00 pm.
Jason Eugene Barnes, age 28, 108 Seventh Street Apt. 2, Marietta,
for two felony charges of domestic violence. Barnes was arrested
on Pike Street in Marietta by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 23 Jul 05 at 9:15 pm.
Ramey Lee Hart, age 28, Beverly, for domestic violence and
for contempt of a court order, both misdemeanors. Hart turned
himself in to Deputy Sheriff McLeish turned himself and was
processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Jul 05 at 9:45
pm.
