On 22 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriff Evans issued a citation to Aaron D. Jenkins, age 18, 1600 State Route 550, Bartlett, for traveling 74 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Evans stopped Mr. Jenkins on State Route 550 near Varner Road in Fairfield Township.

On 22 Jul 05 Maude J. Marshall, age 56, 515 ½ Beauseaux Street, Belpre, reported she has not seen or hear from her thirty-eight year old son since 19 Apr 05. This case remains under investigation (1071).

On 22 Jul 05 Nancy Wilson, age 59, 1570 Wells Road, Waterford, reported she began moving to a new location two months ago, she believes three gold rings, two of which with diamonds, were stolen from among her things. This case remains under investigation (1203).

On 22 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriff Spencer responded to the scene of the death of a seventy-two year old Beverly resident. The woman’s death appears to be due to natural causes, no foul play is suspected.

On 22 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriffs Rhodes and Smithberger encountered an unidentified female walking along US 50 near Drag Strip Road in Belpre. The female claimed she was Ashley L. Eddy, age 22, 1120 Twelfth Street, Parkersburg, but did not have identification on her so she provided her social security number and a date of birth. The given information returned an active warrant for an Ashley L. Ohse, but Ms. Eddy repeatedly denied she was that person. After being questioned for thirty minutes the suspect admitted Eddy was her maiden name and her surname was indeed Ohse. In consequence, Deputy Smithberger arrested Ms. Eddy for falsification and transported her to the Washington County Jail.

On 22 Jul 05 Lt. Wilson and Deputy Sheriff Stackpole investigated a claim by Brenton Metz, age 21, 121 Kentucky Avenue, Marietta, alleging he was slapped by Joanne O’Brien, age 44, 111 Robson Road, Marietta, at her residence. Mr. Metz stated he rode his bike to Ms. O’Brien’s residence to speak with his cousin’s estranged husband and his cousin, Alisha J. Kilmer, age 34, 121 Kentucky Avenue, did not know he was there because it would be in violation of a protection order Ms. O’Brien has against Ms. Kilmer. As the murky details of the situation became clear, Deputy Stackpole concluded Ms. Kilmer drove Mr. Metz to Ms. O’Brien’s home to make contact with her husband, a specific violation of the protection order. As a result, Deputy Stackpole arrested Ms. Kilmer for violating the terms of a protection order and Mr. Metz for falsification and transported them to the Washington County Jail.

SIX NEW SEX OFFENDERS ADDED TO COUNTY REGISTRY

Approximately within the past four weeks, two individuals adjudicated as Sexual Predators and four individuals adjudicated as Sexually Oriented Offenders registered their respective whereabouts with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. A Sexual Predator is an adult (or juvenile age 14 or older) offender, who a judge has determined is likely to engage in future sexually oriented offenses and must register as such until death. A Sexually Oriented Offender is an adult (or juvenile age 14 or older) offender previously found guilty of or pleaded to committing a sexually oriented offense, but who has not been designated as a Sexual Predator or Habitual Sex Offender. They must register for lifetime or ten years unless a judge removes this classification for juvenile offender.

Sheriff Larry Mincks said “Of vital importance is knowing the names, locations and appearance of persons convicted of sex crimes. The use of this information is imperative in protecting our loved ones, most importantly, our children.”

The most recently registered offenders are:

Sexual Predators:

Dennis Edward Shahan Sr., age 43, 1211 Wyatt Lane Apt. C, Belpre, convicted of gross sexual imposition

Some readers may recognize Anthony Jablonowski from news reports as a priest at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, part of the Diocese of Cheyenne, Wyoming and later as a priest with the Diocese of Steubenville where he was transferred in 1991 to start a new religious order called the Carmelite Missionaries of Mary Immaculate in Waterford, Ohio. Jablonowski agreed to a deal in April of 2004, according to which charges of felonious restraint and third degree sexual assault would not be filed in exchange for a no contest plea to taking indecent liberties with the teenager. He was later sentenced to fifteen months to seven years in prison.
