On 3 Jul 05, while traveling southbound on State Route 7 Deputy Sheriff Evans observed the vehicle he was following travel left of the dividing line and swerving erratically from left to right. Initiating a traffic stop, Deputy Evans identified the driver as William T. Wessel, age 22, 508 Front Street Apt. 3, Pittsburgh. When questioned Mr. Wessel admitted consuming six beers that evening, at which time Deputy Evans noticed Mr. Wessel had glassy, blood shot eyes and slurred as he spoke. Following Mr. Wessel’s poor performance on subsequent field sobriety tests, Deputy Evans arrested him for OVI and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 3 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriffs Rhodes and Smithberger responded to the scene of a dispute at 699 Wynncrest Drive, Marietta. Witnesses stated while attending a family gathering William Farley, age 45, 80 Little Eight Mile Road, Marietta, made a comment Scott R. Morrow, age 33, 101 Theis Avenue Lot 13, Marietta, deemed an insult. Fueled by alcohol, Mr. Morrow retrieved a baseball bat from his vehicle and swung at Mr. Farley. Then as he was in the process of departing, Mr. Morrow swerved his Chevy Corsica at Mr. Farley, attempting to run him over. Shortly thereafter Deputy Sheriff Parks located Mr. Morrow operating his vehicle and arrested him for two counts of aggravated menacing as well as for OVI and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 3 Jul 05 Rusty Brown, age 52, 865 Cats Creek Road, Lowell, reported between 9 Jun and 30 Jun 05 a 9.9 hp Mercury boat motor was stolen from his river lot along State Route 60 in Lowell. This case remains under investigation (292).

On 3 Jul 05 Sgt. Hiatt and Deputy Sheriff Malone responded to the scene of the death of an eighty-one year old Amesville resident. The death appears to be natural, no foul play is suspected.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Vincent Owen Raucci, age 31, 3204 Ninthe Street NW, for violating the terms of his parole, a felony. Raucci was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 05 at 12:58 am.

William Taylor Wessel, age 22, 220 Fifth Street, Pittsburgh, PA, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Wessel was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 05 at 4:55 am.

Nathan Dwayne Linger, age 21, 3905 State Route 60, Lowell, for OVI and for parking in the roadway, both misdemeanors. Linger was arrested on State Route 60 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 05 at 5:14 am.

Laura Ann Ledger, age 38, 7012 State Route 550, Cutler, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor. Ledger was arrested at her residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 05 at 9:10 am.

Adam Dale Mason, age 21, 2100 Hill Street Apt. G, Belpre, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Mason was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Malone and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 05 at 10:40 am.

Brian Lee Dawson, age 27, 1343 Short Cut Road, Friendly, WV, for driving under a suspended license and for not wearing a seat belt, both misdemeanors. Dawson was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 05 at 5:10 pm.

Scott Raymond Morrow, age 33, 101 Theis Avenue Lot 13, Marietta, for OVI and for two counts of aggravated menacing, all misdemeanors. Morrow was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Parks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 05 at 8:45 pm.

Molly Marie Azbell, age 34, 449 Franklin Street, Nelsonville, for failure to reinstate her operator’s license, a misdemeanor. Azbell was arrested on US 50 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 05 at 10:45 pm.

Keri Ann Lafatch, age 27, 2106 Private Avenue, Parkersburg, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Lafatch was arrested near the Athens County Line by Patrolman Smeeks of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 05 at 11:32 pm.
