On 2 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriffs Rhodes and Smithberger
conducted a traffic stop on State Route 26 after observing
a vehicle with an inoperable license plate light. At the stop
Deputy Smithberger noticed a passenger in the back seat of
the vehicle slumped over, struggling to remain awake. While
speaking to the passengers both deputies noticed an odor of
alcohol emanating from the vehicle. The driver, Corey R. Clark,
age 18, 804 Garfield Avenue, Marietta, admitted consuming two
beers in the vehicle a short while before being stopped and
performed poorly on subsequent field sobriety tests. The three
passengers, James D. O’Connell, age 18, 137 Wells Avenue,
Marietta, Jacob G. Graseley, age 18, 801 Garfield Avenue, Marietta,
and their seventeen year old friend, each admitted consuming
alcohol at a party that evening on Browns Road. Deputy Rhodes
issued Mr. Clark a citation for having an inoperable license
plate light, arrested him for OVI and transported him to the
Washington County Jail with Mr. O’Connell and Mr. Grasely
who were charged with underage consumption of alcohol. The
juvenile was released to the custody of his mother and will
be summonsed to appear in Juvenile Court on a charge of being
delinquent.
On 2 Jul 05 David L. Britton, age 52, 952
Veto Road, Little Hocking, reported while he was cleaning his
property with a brush hog that afternoon he happened upon a
marijuana plant growing in his field. This case remains under
investigation (200, 305).
On 2 Jul 05 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes issued a
citation to Stephen M. Six, age 37, 35072 Cats Creek Road,
Macksburg, for driving under an OVI suspended license. Deputy
Rhodes stopped Mr. Six at McDonald’s on State Route 60
in Waterford Township.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
David Ray Burwell, age 47, Marietta, for violating
the terms of his protection order, a misdemeanor. Burwell was
arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 2 Jul 05 at 12:32 am.
Douglas Edward Smith, age 33, 1001 Third Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, for breach of recognizance,
for assault, for obstructing official business and for two
counts of domestic violence, all misdemeanors. Smith was arrested
on Front Street in Marietta by Patrolman Kampmeier of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 2 Jul 05 at 1:24 am.
Harley Edwin Wilson, age 26, 435 Calder Ridge Road, Belpre,
for a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon, three misdemeanor
charges of aggravated menacing and a misdemeanor charge of
child endangerment. Wilson was arrested at his residence by
Deputy Sheriff Parks and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 2 Jul 05 at 2:16 am.
Cory Ray Clark, age 18, 804 Garfield Avenue, Marietta, for
.02 underage breath OVI and for having an inoperable license
plate light, both misdemeanors. Clark was arrested on State
Route 26 by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 2 Jul 05 at 6:14 am.
James Dillon O’Connell, age 18, 137 Wells Avenue, Marietta,
for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. O’Connell
was arrested on State Route 26 by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Jul 05 at 6:37
am.
Jacob Gale Grasely, age 18, 801 Garfield Avenue, Marietta,
for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Grasely
was arrested on State Route 26 by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Jul 05 at 7:00
am.
Curtis Scott McGregor, age 26, 720 Front Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. McGregor
was arrested on Holiday Drive by Probation Officer Gault and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Jul 05 at 9:30
am.
Michael Dean Warne, age 36, 470 Hadley Hollow, Marietta, for
failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
a misdemeanor. Warne was arrested at his residence by Deputy
Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 2 Jul 05 at 10:25 am.
Mitchell Paul Schott, age 43, 4171 Watertown Road, Waterford,
for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Schott was arrested at
his residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Jul
05 at 12:45 pm.
Linda A. Kowalewski, age 36, 10207 Hoose Road, Mentor, OH,
for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Kowalewski was arrested
on Pike Street in Marietta by Patrolman Hearn of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 2 Jul 05 at 11:50 pm.
