On 22 May 05 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes conducted
a traffic stop after observing a vehicle swerving wildly in
its lane of travel. Speaking with the driver, Russell W. Lacey,
age 22, 102 Sweetbriar Place, Marietta, Deputy Rhodes noticed
an odor of alcohol and administered field sobriety tests on
Mr. Lacey. Following his poor performance on the tests, Deputy
Rhodes arrested Mr. Lacey for OVI and for driving outside the
marked lanes of travel and transported him to the Washington
County Jail.
On 22 May 05 Brian Church, age 27, 1457 Poplar
Street, Belpre, reported after he exchanged petulant words
with Chester Wheaton, age 64, 2616 Beach Drive, Belpre, Mr.
Wheaton lunged at him aggressively and struck him in the
head. The two struggled to the ground before Mr. Wheaton’s
wife intervened and abruptly ended the melee. Based on his
investigation, Deputy Sheriff Stackpole issued a minor misdemeanor
citation to Mr. Wheaton for disorderly conduct by fighting.
On 22 May 05 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes stopped
a vehicle near milepost 11 on State Route 60 for having an
inoperable license plate light. Identifying the driver as Brian
D. Long, age 34, 34269 Fleeman Run Road, Lower Salem, Deputy
Rhodes noticed an odor of alcohol and was informed Mr. Long’s
license was suspended. Following Mr. Long’s poor performance
on field sobriety tests, Deputy Rhodes arrested him for OVI,
driving under suspension and for having a faulty license plate
light and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 22 May 05 Richard Cole, age 42, 27740 State
Route 7, Marietta, reported during the previous evening’s
overnight hours all of the stereo equipment, valued at over
$4,500, was stolen from his Nissan 300ZX. This case remains
under investigation (500).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Brian David Long, age 34, 34629 Fleeman Run
Road, Lower Salem, for OVI, for driving under an FRA suspended
license and for having a faulty license plate light, all misdemeanors.
Long was arrested in Lowell by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 22 May 05 at 1:20 am.
Christy Lynn Smelko, age 23, 3133 Washington Street, Bellaire,
OH, for .17 breath OVI, a misdemeanor. Smelko was arrested
near milepost twenty on State Route 60 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22
May 05 at 2:42 am.
Jeremy Scott Lauer, age 27, 240 Woodland Acres, Marietta,
for assault on a peace officer, a felony. Lauer was arrested
on Front Street in Marietta by Patrolman Wenzel of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 22 May 05 at 3:16 am.
Russell William Lang, age 22, 102 Sweet Briar Place, Marietta,
for OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel,
both misdemeanors. Lang was arrested on State Route 7 north
by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 22 May 05 at 3:39 am.
Brent Michael Radabaugh, age 27, 2200 Hill Street, Belpre,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Radabaugh was arrested
at his residence by Patrolman Clevenger of the Belpre City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 22 May 05 at 5:09 am.
Shawn Patrick Mathews, age 36, 806 ½ Fourth Street,
Marietta, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor.
Mathews was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Evans
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 May 05
at 3:15 pm.
Cynthia K. Dailey, age 30, 1125 Greene Street, Marietta, for
driving under an FRA suspended license, a misdemeanor. Dailey
was arrested on Browns Road by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 22 May 05 at 7:21 pm.
