On 1 May 05 Deputy Sheriff Parks responded to an assault complaint at B & J Carryout on State Route 7 in Newport. Susan Stull, age 46, 101 Evans Street Apt. A2, New Matamoras, commented that she and two friends were at the carryout when Hester J. Groves, age 41, 623 Virginia Street Apt. 210, Marietta, appeared and initiated a confrontation. Fueled by ongoing tension over the fact that her daughter lives with Ms. Stull, Ms. Groves slapped her across the face and neck several times. Confirming Ms. Stull’s statement with the witnesses, Deputy Parks requested a warrant for Ms. Groves for assault, who was later arrested at her residence by Sgt. Hiatt.
