On 30 Apr 05 and on 1 May 05 Deputy Sheriff
Evans requested a summons for a fifteen year old Belpre resident
to appear in Juvenile Court on delinquency charges along with
summonses for disorderly conduct by fighting for Thomas Bailey,
age 40, 83 Watson Lane, Belpre, for Justin Bledsoe, age 22,
807 Moore Avenue, Belpre, and for Donald W. Kitts, age 22,
9400 State Route 550, Vincent, as a result of an altercation
involving the four at Mr. Bailey’s home the evening of
30 Apr 05.
On 30 Apr 05 Deputy Sheriff Eddy requested
a summons for Dana B. Curry, age 33, 106 Riley Drive, Marietta,
for the theft of a checkbook from a residence on Muskingum
River Road on 25 Apr 05.
On 30 Apr 05 Velinda K. Berga, age 27, 425
Dodd’s Run Road, Marietta, reported an acquaintance broke
the windshield and driver side window of her vehicle allegedly
because she was angry that Ms. Berga was going to give the
vehicle to her brother, the acquaintance’s ex-boyfriend.
This case remains under investigation (200).
On 30 Apr 05 Sgt. Hiatt and Deputy Sheriff
Eddy were dispatched to 3425 State Route 530, Lowell, after
Jerry R. Riggs, age 35, reported his wife Helena, age 31, assaulted
him. Mr. Riggs stated as tensions escalated while he and his
wife argued, Mrs. Riggs began choking, scratching him and hit
him with a lamp. Confirming Mr. Riggs’ testimony with
witnesses, Deputy Eddy arrested Mrs. Riggs for domestic violence
and transported her to the Washington County Jail.
On 30 Apr 05 Deputy Sheriff Evans initiated
a traffic stop after observing the driver of the vehicle he
was following fail to signal as he turned from State Route
339 onto State Route 60. In speaking with the driver, Mick
D. Giffin, age 36, 110 Main Street, Waterford, Deputy Evans
learned Mr. Giffin’s license was suspended and also noticed
Mr. Giffin’s speech was slow and lethargic. Following
his poor performance on field sobriety tests Mr. Giffin was
arrested for OVI, for driving under suspension and failure
to signal and transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 30 Apr 05 Deputy Sheriff Evans responded
to the scene of an altercation involving three adults and two
juveniles at a residence on Watson Lane in Belpre. Due to conflicting
witness statements this case remains under investigation.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Mick Daniel Giffin, age 36, 110 Main Street,
Waterford, for violating the terms of his probation, for OVI,
for failure to reinstate his operator’s license and for
failure to signal, all misdemeanors. Giffin was arrested on
State Route 339 by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 29 Apr 05 at 2:25 am.
Norma Jean Preston, age 34, 4814 15th Avenue, Parkersburg,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Preston was arrested at the Four Seasons
in Marietta by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
30 Apr 05 at 3:15 am.
Helena Denise Riggs, age 31, 3425 State Route 530, Lowell,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Riggs was arrested at
her residence by Deputy Sheriff Eddy and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 30 Apr 05 at 8:50 am.
Michael Harvey Donnellan, PO Box 1016, Jane Lew, WV, for failure
to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor.
Donnellan was arrested at the Marietta College bus stop by
Officer Moon of the Marietta College Police Department and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 30 Apr 05 at 4:25
pm.
