On 28 Apr 05 Deputy Sheriff Spencer responded
to the scene of a vehicle-pedestrian accident at 45 Wynnwood
Drive, Marietta. Not seeing his wife Joan, age 73, Emery D.
Cottrill, age 75, inadvertently struck his wife and knocked
her to the ground as he was backing his vehicle out of the
garage. Mrs. Cottrill sustained minor injuries and was transported
to Marietta Memorial Hospital by the Warren Volunteer Fire
Department.
On 28 Apr 05 Deputy Sheriff Huck responded
to a domestic dispute in Waterford between a father and his
sixteen year old son. While speaking to his son about his
insolence, the son continued making disparaging remarks. In
turn the father
slapped his son, prompting the juvenile to tackle his father
into a wall and onto the kitchen floor, breaking two chairs.
Based on the juvenile’s actions Deputy Huck requested
a summons for the sixteen year old to appear in Juvenile
Court for being delinquent.
On 28 Apr 05 Deputy Sheriff Parks conducted
a traffic stop on State Route 7 near County Road 47 in Newport
after learning the owner of the vehicle he was following had
an OVI suspended license. Identifying the driver as Charles
W. Hunter Jr., age 20, 1314 Franklin Street Apt. 3, Toronto,
OH, Deputy Parks discovered a cigarette pack containing a marijuana
joint and six roaches. Charging him with driving under suspension
and possession of drugs, Deputy Parks then transported Mr.
Hunter to the Washington County Jail.
On 28 Apr 05 an employee of Hilltop Auto Wrecking,
975 Blue Knob Road, Marietta, reported an unknown caller has
been making harassing phone calls from the company’s
toll free number for the past six months. This case remains
under investigation (232).

Joseph Blevins, age 32, 108 Holly Street,
Marietta, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on
1 Apr 05.
Eldon L. Church Jr., age 19, 400 Mechanic Street, Macksburg,
for the theft of a Murray brand go-cart on 25 Mar 05.
Richard McCroy, age 54, PO Box 38, New Matamoras, for failing
to appear for a debtor’s exam on 1 Apr 05.
Timothy McGraw Jr., age 23, 830 Ridge Street, Marietta, for
failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 1 Apr 05.
Michael M. McManus, age 33, 412 Washington Street, Marietta,
for failing to appear for a contempt hearing on 29 Dec 04.
David E. Millhone, age 50, PO Box 152, Tupper Plains, for
failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 8 Apr 05.
John L. Snider, age 33, Route 1 Box 202, Little Hocking, for
operating without a driver’s license and for use of unauthorized
plates on 27 Jun 03 and for operating without a driver’s
license, for fleeing and eluding and for driving with wanton
disregard for safety on 7 Jul 03.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Donald George Minder, age 68, 45060 State
Route 7, New Matamoras, for felonious assault. Minder was arrested
at his residence by Detective Kapple of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 28 Apr 05 at 12:40 am.
Benjamin Joseph Myers, age 25, 110 Dawes Circle, Marietta,
for OVI and for failure to control, both misdemeanors. Myers
was arrested on County Road 16 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Apr 05
at 4:30 am.
Jesse Scott Books, age 22, 909 Phillips Street,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Books was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Apr 05
at 8:45 am.
Brandon Paul Layman, age 23, 114 Grove Street, Marietta, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Layman
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Apr 05 at 10:56
am.
Roy Eric Braun, age 30, 7055 Jenerous Street, Center Line,
MI, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Braun was picked up at the Hardin County Jail by Deputy Sheriff
Tornes and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28
Apr 05 at 5:21 pm.
Jerry Richard Riggs Jr., age 34, 3425 State Route 530, Lowell,
for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Riggs was arrested at
the Locker Room in Marietta by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 28 Apr 05 at 8:29 pm.
Kenneth Eugene Wriston Jr., age 30, 2204 Capitol Circle, Parkersburg,
for violating the terms of his probation, for failure to appear
at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, for interference
with custody, for domestic violence and for driving under an
FRA suspended license, all misdemeanors. Wriston was arrested
on Harmar Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Huck and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 28 Apr 05 at 8:47 pm.
Charles William Hunter Jr., age 20, 1314 Franklin Avenue Apt.
3, Toronto, OH, for driving under an OVI suspended license
and for possession of drugs, both misdemeanors. Hunter was
arrested in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Parks and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 28 Apr 05 at 10:05 pm.
