On 24 Apr 05 Deputy Sheriff Norman responded
to the scene of an attempted suicide of a sixteen year old.
The juvenile was transported to Selby Hospital for treatment
and evaluation.
On 24 Apr 05 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes initiated
a traffic stop on State Route 339 near Buchanan Road after
observing a vehicle for traveling 57 mph in a 45 mph zone.
In speaking with the driver, Penny E. Carr-Welch, age 38, 5693
N State Route 376 NW, McConnelsville, Deputy Rhodes detected
an odor of alcohol and noticed Ms. Welch had red, bloodshot
eyes. Following her poor performance on field sobriety tests
Ms. Welch also admitted possessing a marijuana smoking device.
Charging her with speeding, OVI and possession of drug paraphernalia,
Deputy Rhodes then transported Ms. Welch to the Washington
County Jail.
On 24 Apr 05 Deputy Sheriff Evans stopped
a vehicle for traveling 12 mph on State Route 339 near Third
Street in Beverly. Checking the registration, Deputy Evans
determined Carrie M. Bennett, age 30, 35 Henderson Alley, Lowell,
was driving under a suspended license. Also noticing an odor
of alcohol, Deputy Evans requested Ms. Bennett perform field
sobriety tests. Following her poor performance on the tests
Deputy Evans arrested Ms. Bennett for OVI as well as for driving
under a suspended license and transported her to the Washington
County Jail.
On 24 Apr 05 Deputy Sheriff Mankins initiated
a traffic stop on County Road 25 near Woodlawn Drive after
observing the vehicle he was following travel left of center
several times. Deputy Mankins noticed an odor of alcohol on
the driver, Dale F. Kuzak, age 58, 74 King Street, Elyria,
OH, and requested he submit to field sobriety tests on which
he performed poorly. Based on his observations, Deputy Mankins
arrested Mr. Kuzak for OVI and transported him to the Washington
County Jail.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Penny Elaine Carr-Welch, age 38, 5693 State
Route 376, McConnelsville, for OVI, for speeding and for possession
of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Welch was arrested
on State Route 339 by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 24 Apr 05 at 2:40 am.
Dale Francis Kuzak Sr., age 58, 74 King Street, Elyria, OH,
for OVI and for driving left of center, both misdemeanors.
Kuzak was arrested on Woodlawn Avenue in Newport by Deputy
Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 24 Apr 05 at 2:45 am.
Carrie Michelle Bennett, age 30, 35 Hendrickson Alley, Lowell,
for OVI and for failure to signal, both misdemeanors. Bennett
was arrested on Third Street in Beverly by Deputy Sheriff Evans
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Apr 05
at 3:10 am.
David Wayne Wriston, age 20, 501 Second Street Apt. 1, Marietta,
for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Wriston was arrested
on Fifteenmile Creek Road in Wingett Run by Sgt. Hiatt of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 24 Apr 05 at 11:15 am.
Denzel Michael Jeffers, age 20, County House Lane, Marietta,
for domestic violence and for resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.
Jeffers was arrested in Belpre by Deputy Sheriff Gherke and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Apr 05 at 9:37
pm.
James Edward Taylor, age 39, 3313 Marion Street, Marietta,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Taylor was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman
Warden of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 24 Apr 05 at 10:00 pm.
