On 16 Mar 05 Lt. Wilson and Deputy Sheriff
Gherke responded to a domestic dispute in progress at 526 Broad
Street, Macksburg. Radio Dispatch informed the Deputies that
Glen O. Williams, age 29, 480 Harriett Street, Macksburg, was
still at the home of his ex-wife Sherry Scoggan, age 28, in
a state of intoxication and struck her. Upon their arrival
the Deputies observed Mr. Williams standing and cursing in
the street, then scampered away when informed he was under
arrest. A short chase ensued around the residence, ending in
the apprehension of Mr. Williams. Ms. Scoggan then apprised
the Deputies of occurrences prior to their arrival. Specifically
that Mr. Williams burst through the front door uninvited and
head-butted her in the nose. Confirming the account of Ms.
Scoggan with witnesses, Deputy Gherke arrested Mr. Williams
for aggravated burglary and for resisting arrest and transported
him to the Washington County Jail.
On 16 Mar 05 Detective Kapple and Deputy Sheriff
Norman began an investigation into a rash of thefts from
vehicles in the vicinity of Fifth Street in Lowell. Thefts
from Walnut,
Fifth, Main and Fourth Streets include cash, jewelry, video
tapes, CD’s, CD players and speakers from seven victims.
This case remains under investigation.
On 16 Mar 05 Robert Nickols, age 27, 845 County
House Lane, Marietta, reported being accidentally hit in the
eye with a pellet gun two days ago. Deputy Norman concluded
Mr. Nickols sustained the minor injury when the pellet ricocheted
off a plastic soda bottle.
On 16 Mar 05 Virgil W. Evans, age 50, 16120
State Route 821, Elba, reported between 3 am and 4:30 pm that
day, the new Honda TRX300 racing style ATV he bought for his
grandson was stolen from a locked outbuilding on his property.
This case remains under investigation (1184).
On 16 Mar 05 an employee of Gates Green Grocery,
4537 State Route 339, Belpre, reported the driver of a white
van drove off without paying for nineteen dollars in gas at
10:30 that morning. This case remains under investigation (792).
On 16 Mar 05 an employee of Degussa Engineered
Carbons, 11135 State Route 7, Marietta, reported a security
guard witnessed two suspicious males on the company’s
property without permission and may have stolen a quantity
of scrap metal. This case remains under investigation (200).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Glen Owen Williams, age 29, 480 Harriett Street,
Macksburg, for a felony charge of aggravated burglary and for
a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. Williams was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Gherke and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 15 Mar 05 at 4:00 am.
Joshua Thomas Bailey, age 19, 83 Watson Lane,
Belpre, for driving under an FRA suspended license, a misdemeanor.
Bailey was arrested on Oak Street in Belpre by Patrolman Williams
of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 05 at 4:55 pm.
Kathy Renee Harner, age 35, 2005 ½ Washington Boulevard
Apt. 2, Belpre, for three felony charges of theft, a felony
charge of forgery and misdemeanor charges of theft, misuse
of a credit card, violating the terms of his probation, failure
to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, operating
without a license and for failure to comply with the order/signal
of an officer. Harner was arrested at Baker & Baker Jewelry
in Marietta by Patrolman Hearn of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
16 Mar 05 at 5:35 pm.
