On 10 Mar 05 Jo Edwards, age 46, 101 Dunedin
Road, Marietta, reported her vehicle and the vehicles of neighbor’s
in the vicinity of her street were entered and approximately
eighty dollars in cash and four CD’s stolen from inside.
This case remains under investigation (296).
On 10 Mar 05 Deputy Sheriffs Gherke and Parks
responded to a possible domestic dispute at the home of Candy
Burke, age 32, 1416 Hocking Road, Belpre. Ms. Burke advised
the Deputies that on this date Matthew Burke, age 33, was highly
intoxicated and creating a disturbance so she left their residence
for a friend’s home to avoid an argument. Mr. Burke began
calling her, saying he was going to burn her clothing. When
she arrived back at her residence she found her clothes in
tatters and Mr. Burke threatening to burn the house, dousing
hairspray on the couch. Unsuccessfully igniting the couch,
Mr. Burke retrieved a can of lighter fluid and diesel fuel
and spread the flammables throughout the house. His efforts
thwarted by a housemate, Mr. Burke fled the area to be found
later hiding under a neighbor’s truck. Subsequent to
being read his rights Mr. Burke admitted dumping the flammables
in the house in an effort to scare his housemates, was arrested
for attempted aggravated arson and transported to the Washington
County Jail.

Office received the following warrants:
Patrick A. Brannan, age 43, 50 Railroad Street,
Whipple, for OVI and for speeding on 22 Oct 04.
James D. Johnson, age 34, 2720 Beach Drive, Belpre, for domestic
violence and for possession of Vicodin, a Schedule III controlled
substance, on 25 Sep 04.
Connie L. Cook, age 51, 23 Bethel Place, Washington,
WV, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $69.55.
Derek M. Fortney, age 22, 2208 State Route 339, Belpre, for
failing to appear for a scheduled trial on 2 Mar 05.
Jeanine Q. Lane, age 36, 1460 Barrett South Road, Vincent,
for failing to register a dog of more than three months of
age on 13 Jan 05.
Mike L. Weatherholt, age 28, for knowingly offer to sell marijuana
in a quantity less than two hundred grams on 27 Sep 04.
Ronald G. West, age 29, 210 Front Street Apt. 2, Marietta,
for failing to appear for a scheduled trial on 16 Feb 05.
The following
individual wAS processed into the Washington County Jail:
Robert Allen Dobbins, age 39, 12787 State
Route 676, Watertown, for failure to appear for a debtor’s
exam. Dobbins was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff
Parks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Mar
05 at 9:50 pm.
