On 4 Mar 05 Cassidy Barcley, age 18, 2818 Beach Drive, Belpre, reported at some point during the previous evening, a pioneer CD player and a Motorola flip phone were stolen from inside his unlocked Dodge Dakota. This case remains under investigation (586).

On 4 Mar 05 Deputy Sheriff Evans conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on State Route 821 that was operating without taillights. Interviewing the driver, Todd A. Covey, age 37, 171Wells Avenue, Marietta, Deputy Evans detected an odor of alcohol, a fact denied by Mr. Covey. Despite professing his sobriety, Mr. Covey performed poorly on field sobriety tests before he admitted consuming two drinks prior to being stopped. As a result, Deputy Evans arrested Mr. Covey for OVI transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 4 Mar 05 while investigating another matter, Deputy Sheriff Coppernoll observed and recovered a flatbed trailer that Homer L. Wilson, Box 196, Tupper Plains, OH, reported stolen from his property at 210 Carson Lane, Belpre. This case remains under investigation (695).

On 4 Mar 05 Carol Sciance, 464 Sciance Road, Fleming, reported between 15 Feb and 4 Mar, a Statesman riding lawn mower was stolen from her rental property at 3300 Warren Chapel Road, Marietta. This case remains under investigation (292, 597).

On 4 Mar 05 Lt. Wilson initiated a traffic stop near Bender Road on State Route 7 after clocking a passing vehicle traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. Given permission to search the vehicle by the driver, Dean P. Quadir, age 19, 351 Miner Road, Highland Heights, OH, Lt. Wilson and Deputy Sheriff Stackpole found a glass marijuana pipe and a cigar holder containing marijuana in the console of the vehicle. Lt. Wilson also found marijuana packaged for resale in a duffel bag belonging to, Patrick A. Dellaratta, age 19, 68 South Green Drive, Athens, one of the vehicle’s passengers. Mr. Quadir admitted being the owner of the marijuana pipes while Mr. Dellaratta confessed he owned the marijuana in his duffel bag and that he was going to sell it to his friends at home. As a result, Lt. requested summonses for Mr. Quadir for possession of drugs and of drug paraphernalia while Mr. Dellaratta was arrested for trafficking in drugs and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 4 Mar 05 Raymond A. Druss, age 53, 110 Deerwalk Circle, Marietta, reported while he was at work between 7 am and 4 pm that day, an unknown suspect(s) attempted unsuccessfully to enter his garage by kicking in a door. This case remains under investigation (200).

On 4 Mar 05 Lt. Canavan was dispatched to 5772 Buchanan Road, Waterford, to interdict a domestic dispute. Ashlee Grubb, age 21, advised Lt. Canavan that following and argument with her boyfriend, she was on the front porch speaking with her mother on the phone, her live-in boyfriend, Derek E. Brown, age 22, locked the door. Expecting such an action Ms. Grubb used her key and upon opening the door was struck in the chest by Mr. Brown. Ms. Grubb struck back in retaliation then quickly fled into a bathroom of the residence. As a result of further investigation Lt. Canavan arrested Mr. Brown for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

Steven Tice, age 53, 204 McKim Street, St. Marys, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 4 Feb 05.

Kevin Offenberger, age 42, 1609 Hill Street Apt. 3, Belpre, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 4 Feb 05.

Marsha A. Joy, age 23, 525 Joy Road, New Matamoras, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 3 Mar 04.

Brian Flesher, age 31, 11 Wheelbarrow Run Road, Marietta, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 14 Jan 05.

James L. Nichols, age 42, 7225 Marion Street, Chesterhill, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 21 May 04.

Christina E. Miller, age 36, 1404 Rocky Point Road, Fleming, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 4 Feb 05.

Jeffrey A. Theiss, age 27, 27130 State Route 7, Marietta, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 11 Feb 05.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Ricky Dee Hines, age 43, 121 Muskingum Drive Apt. 2, Marietta, for criminal damaging/endangering, for criminal trespassing and for aggravated menacing, all misdemeanors. Hines was arrested on Muskingum Drive in Marietta by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Mar 05 at 2:15 am.

Derek Eugene Brown, age 22, 5772 Buchanan Road, Waterford, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Brown was arrested on Buchanan Road by Lt. Canavan of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Mar 05 at 2:30 am.

Jeffrey Alan Leasure, age 43, 1199 Pettyville Road, Mineral Wells, for .17 breath OVI, for driving under a suspended license, for driving outside the marked lanes of travel and for possession of drugs, all misdemeanors. Leasure was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Mar 05 at 3:30 am.

John Neverez Jr., age 32, 776 Dawson Boulevard, Columbus, for driving under an FRA suspended license and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Neverez was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Mar 05 at 9:15 am.

Randal Lee Schwendeman, age 45, Little Bear Creek Road, Lowell, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Schwendeman was arrested at the Harmar Tavern by Probation Officer Perry and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Mar 05 at 12:55 pm.

Patrick Alan Dellaratta, age 19, 1690 Chagrin River Road, Gatesmills, OH, for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Dellaratta was arrested on State Route 7 by Lt. Wilson of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Mar 05 at 2:15 pm.

Todd Alan Covey, age 37, 171 Wells Avenue, Marietta, for .08 breath OVI and for having a faulty license plate light, both misdemeanors. Covey was arrested on State Route 821 by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Mar 05 at 11:10 pm.
