On 7 Feb 05 Buffie M. Gerst, age 26, 3454 State Route 821, Marietta, reported as she traveled on Interstate 77 near mile post twelve she received a call on her cellular phone from her former boyfriend George J. Ward, age 33, 361 Broad Street, Macksburg, which is in violation of a protection order she has against him. Sgt. Hiatt question Mr. Ward at his residence regarding the phone call, Mr. Ward admitting placing the call. As a result, Sgt. Hiatt arrested Mr. Ward for violating the terms of a protection order and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 7 Feb 05 Sgt. Hiatt investigated a two vehicle collision in the parking lot of People’s Bank in Lower Salem. Charles G. Schlarb, age 70, 11379 State Route 821, Lower Salem, and Carol J. Love, age 47, 38105 State Route 145, Lower Salem, were both backing out of opposite parking stalls, when Ms. Love noticed there would be a collision, pulled back into her parking stall. Mr. Schlarb continued in reverse and struck the left rear fender of Ms. Love’s Oldsmobile with right rear bumper of his Ford truck. Both vehicles sustained only light damage.

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants:

Patrick A. Brannan, age 42, 50 Railroad Street, Whipple, for failure to appear for trial on 2 Feb 05.

Jeremy R. Braun, age 20, 195 Caywood Road, Marietta, for fleeing and eluding and for operating an unsafe vehicle on 14 Jan 05.

Robert T. Bowles, age 28, 44604 County Road 23, Coshocton, OH, for failure to appear for a probation violation hearing on 2 Feb 05.

Ralph E. Deberry, age 53, Route 2 Box 425, Belpre, for failure to appear for trial on 2 Feb 05.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Donald Eugene Bartimus, age 24, 2342 Sealy Ridge Road, Vincent, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Bartimus was arrested on State Route 7 by Patrolman Williams of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Feb 05 at 1:20 am.

Francisco Viernes Mendoza, age 40, 736 Greene Street Apt. 16, Marietta, for domestic violence, a felony. Mendoza was arrested at Marietta Memorial Hospital by Patrolman Chapman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Feb 05 at 2:05 am.

George Jeremy Ward, age 33, 361 Broad Street, Macksburg, for violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor. Ward was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Feb 05 at 1:20 pm.

Darcy Ann Lovell, age 22, 239 Lovell Road, Springfield, VT, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Lovell was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Feb 05 at 9:53 pm.

Jason Todd Bailey, age 29, 21260 Country Meadows Apt. 6, Marietta, for disorderly conduct, for breach of recognizance, for criminal damaging/endangering, for assault and for violating the terms of his probation, all misdemeanors. Bailey was arrested at Colonial Terrace Apartments by Patrolman Hilverding of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Feb 05 at 10:36 pm.
