On 29 Jan 05 the Sheriff’s Office assisted
the Wood County (WV) Sheriff’s Office in obtaining a
search warrant for and later searching a storage building in
Belpre for stolen property. Locating numerous stolen properties,
the Wood County Sheriff’s Office will perform follow
up on the case (501).
On 29 Jan 05 Brandon Allen, age 38, 12740
State Route 676, Watertown, reported finding the front driver’s
side tire with five puncture holes in it. Mr. Allen believes
the tires were vandalized four or five days prior when he witnessed
a group of three males lurking about his 1993 Volvo. This case
remains under investigation (597).
On 29 Jan 05 Rose Venham, age 57, 355 Roberts
Road, Amesville, reported during the previous evening an unknown
suspect forcibly entered a building on her property, ransacked
the office and stole a battery from the engine compartment
of the truck parked in the garage. This case remains under
investigation (597).
On 29 Jan 05 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes initiated
a traffic stop near mile post thirty-seven on State Route 7
after observing a vehicle traveling greater than the 55 mph
speed limit. When asked, the driver Donald E. Metheny Jr.,
age 32, PO Box 608, Newport, admitted consuming five to seven
beers earlier in the evening and performed poorly on field
sobriety tests. As a result, Deputy Rhodes arrested Mr. Metheny
for OVI and speeding and transported him to the Washington
County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jessica Dawn Strode, age 20, 56 Ullman Street,
Beverly, for OVI and for underage consumption of alcohol, both
misdemeanors. Strode was arrested at the Locker Room in Marietta
by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Jan 05
at 1:10 am.
Donald Eugene Metheny Jr., age 32, PO Box 608 Lot 10, Newport,
for .17 breath OVI and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Metheny
was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Jan 05 at 2:24
am.
Vernon Eugene Estadt, age 41, 41858 County Road 7, Caldwell,
for OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel,
both misdemeanors. Estadt was arrested on Front Street in Marietta
by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 Jan 05 at 2:55 am.
Keith Allen Huff, age 21, 535 Second Street, Marietta, for
domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Huff was arrested on State
Route 7 by Lt. Canavan of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29
Jan 05 at 3:15 am.
Justin Allen Harris, age 22, 521 Adams Street, Marietta, for
a felony charge of domestic violence and a misdemeanor charge
of failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines.
Harris was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Norman
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Jan 05
at 10:05 am.
William Logan Schofield, age 43, 1224 Drag Strip Road, Belpre,
for a felony charge of failure to appear and misdemeanor charges
of failure to appear and contempt of a court order. Schofield
was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 29 Jan 05 at 10:08 am.
Brian Keith Hitchcock, age 25, 111 Spring Street, Marietta,
failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
a misdemeanor. Hitchcock was arrested on Pike Street in Marietta
by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 Jan 05 at 8:40 pm.
