On 24 Jan 05 Craig Parsons, age 45, 797 Tower Road, Little Hocking, reported when he arrived at his business at 253 Orchard Drive, Little Hocking, that morning, an employee informed him a total of twelve tires were slashed on three of the business’ trucks. This case remains under investigation (684).
On 24 Jan 05 Bobbie T. Byrd, age 49, 9626 State Route 555, Cutler, reported she was assaulted by her stepdaughter following an argument over the nineteen year old’s behavior. Resolving the dispute within the family, Mrs. Byrd declined to pursue the matter further (684).
On 24 Jan 05 while an inmate at the Washington County Jail, Aaron Goins, age 33, Route 1 Box 146, Amesville, was being held in a holding cell for disciplinary reasons during which time he aggravated his situation by kicking the wall mounted phone loose, pulled it off the wall, then threw it to the floor. As a result of Mr. Goins’ actions, Deputy Sheriff Bichard requested a summons for Mr. Goins for criminal damaging.
On 24 Jan 05 a forty-six year old Little Hocking resident reported her two teenage foster sons were involved in a minor physical altercation over speaking to a girl on the phone. Citing the aggressor’s lack of malicious intent and uncooperativeness of the alleged victim, Deputy Sheriff Spencer closed this case as unfounded.
On 24 Jan 05 Sgt. Hiatt and Deputy Sheriff Evans responded to the scene of the death of a sixty-seven year old Macksburg resident. The death appears to be due to natural causes, no foul play is suspected.
On 24 Jan 05 William C. Hunt, age 53, 1321 Stone Quarry Road, Fleming, reported subsequent to forgetting his cellular phone in the restroom of the Courthouse, he returned to the restroom to discover the phone had been taken. This case remains under investigation (1203).
On 24 Jan 05 Randall L. Petty, age 50, 1025 Kohl Road, Whipple, reported between 1 am and 1:30 am that morning, an unknown suspect entered two vehicles on his property and stole two radar detectors and two purses containing his daughter’s checkbook and credit cards. This case remains under investigation (200).
ARSON INVESTIGATION RESULTS
IN ARREST
Following an exhaustive investigation begun
by Investigator Eifler of the State of Ohio Fire Marshall's
Office, Detective Kapple of the Washington County Sheriff's
Office today arrested William
E. O'Brien,
age 40, 501 Main Street , Waterford , for four counts of aggravated
arson. Mr. O'Brien became a suspect early in the investigation
when Detective Kapple learned Mr. O'Brien was visibly upset
after seeing his ex-girlfriend speaking to another man earlier
in the evening. Witnesses also place Mr. O'Brien near the blaze,
in fact even asking to borrow a lighter from a neighbor immediately
prior to the fire. O'Brien has a prior criminal history with
arson related charges, including being sentenced on two counts
of arson in 2000 as well as being a suspect in an arson with
similar circumstances in Guernsey County in August of 2004.
At this time Mr. O'Brien is being held without bail in the
Washington County Jail.

Roger D. Logston, age 31, 2 Honeysuckle Drive, Parkersburg, for contempt for failure to appear for trial upon indictment for possession of cocaine.
Amber L. Lowers, age 24, 704 Ninth Street, Marietta, for contempt for failure to appear for trial upon indictment for one count of theft and five counts of forgery.
Carl W. Felter, age 23, Route 2 Box 460C, St Marys, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $65.
Justin A. Harris, age 22, 2550 East State Route 60, McConnelsville, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $971.75.
Anita J. Hamrick, age 31, 1400 Highland Drive Apt. 402 , St Albans, WV , for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $1,649.57.
Billy E. Moore, age 43, 1003 West Main Street Apt. 2, Ravanna, OH, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $553.80.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
John David O’Brien, age 49, 96 Main Street, Lower Salem, for a felony charge of domestic violence and a misdemeanor charge of violating the terms of his probation. O’Brien was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jan 05 at 12:55 am.
Charles Stanley Fox II, age 34, 728 ½ Fifth Street Apt. A, Marietta, for domestic violence, a felony. Fox was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Titus of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jan 05 at 3:05 am.
Deane Alan Curtis, age 42, 246 Pennsylvania Avenue Apt. B, Marietta, for a felony charge of escape and misdemeanor charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and for violating the terms of his probation. Curtis was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Hickey of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jan 05 at 3:25 am.
Cheyenne Eugene Riddle, age 24, 189 Fourth Street, Lowell, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Riddle was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Probation Officer Perry and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jan 05 at 10:30 am.
Niki Alan Ledford, age 34, 6180 Waterford Road, Marietta, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Ledford was arrested at his residence by Detective Jenkins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jan 05 at 12:40 pm.
