On 21 Dec 04 Deborah K. Kollar, age 43, PO
Box 907, Mineral Wells, WV, reported since paying in November,
an advance of over $5,000 to repair a deer-damaged vehicle,
a Little Hocking business has yet to repair the vehicle or
return the money. This case remains under investigation (1071).
On 21 Dec 04 Margie M. Hill, age 40, 4085
Muskingum River Road, Lowell, reported that two days ago her
estranged husband allegedly used their children as a conduit
to relay a message to her, in violation of a court ordered
protection order. This case remains under investigation (1184).
On 21 Dec 04 Linda S. Wolfe, age 49, 47390
State Route 7, New Matamoras, reported between the morning
of 15 Dec and the evening of 16 Dec an unknown suspect used
a sharp instrument to cut the water line to her mobile home.
This case remains under investigation (1071).
On 21 Dec 04 Mark Thomas II, age 21, 56 High
Avenue, Waterford, reported an acquaintance came to his home
demanding a set of truck keys he believed Mr. Thomas had. When
Mr. Thomas repeatedly denied having the keys, the acquaintance
pursued after him, the chase culminating in the acquaintance
punching Mr. Thomas in the head several times before he fled
the scene. This case remains under investigation (684).
SPECIAL NEWS RELEASE FOR TUESDAY 21 DEC 04
On 20 Dec 04 Sgt. Mark Hiatt and Deputy Sheriff
Pat Gherke were requested by the Athens County Sheriff’s
Office to check a residence at 2940 Laurel Ridge Road, Lowell,
OH in an attempt to locate Charles Samuel Conter, age 39, last
known address of 36 Poston Road, Apt 52, The Plains, OH. Conter
had allegedly been involved in the violation of a temporary
protection order in Athens County in that he had been at the
residence of Nichole Nicholas and had brandished a long gun.
Athens County Sheriff’s Office had received permission
from the Athens County Prosecutor to file charges against Conter
for Tampering with a Crime Witness and violation of a Temporary
Protection Order. Deputy Sheriff Gherke made contact with Conter
outside of the residence at 2940 Laurel Ridge Road. After making
contact Conter ran into the basement of the house and removed
a shotgun that had been hidden underneath a couch. Deputy Sheriff
Gherke hit Conter with a Taser projectile after Conter refused
to drop the weapon. Conter freed himself from the Taser, bent
over and inflicted a single shot from a 12-gauge shotgun into
the side of his head. Conter was transported to Marietta Memorial
Hospital by the LA Emergency Squad and later life flight to
Grant Memorial Hospital in Columbus. His condition is unknown
at this time.
The following
individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Bruce Alan Casto, age 46, 505 Ferguson Street,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony.
Casto was arrested at the Washington County Courthouse by Probation
Officer Gault and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 21 Dec 04 at 10:30 am.
David Wayne Evans, age 29, 16055 State Route 821, Macksburg,
for receiving stolen property, a felony. Evans was picked up
at the Noble County Correctional Facility by Deputy Sheriff
O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 21 Dec 04 at 11:30 am.
Natalie Sue Weckbacher, age 21, 13480 State Route 60, Lowell,
for three misdemeanor charges of failure to appear. Weckbacher
was arrested in Beverly by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 21 Dec 04 at 8:57 pm.
