On 3 Dec 04 Walter J. Kubala, age 63, 844
Florence Street, Belpre, a self employed painter, reported
on 17 Oct 04 he received a bad check for $2,000 for a painting
job completed earlier this year. This case remains under investigation
(8411).
On 3 Dec 04 Deputy Spencer responded to a
report of a truck stuck in the yard of First Baptist Church,
500 Beach Drive, Belpre. Jesse P. Newbanks, age 20, 223 Maple
Street, Belpre, stated he was driving in unfamiliar territory
when he inadvertently left the roadway and got stuck in the
mud.
On 3 Dec 04 Lt. Huffer and Deputy Sheriff
Mankins initiated a traffic stop on State Route 7 near Mitchells
Lane after observing the driver of a Honda operating in a suspicious
manner. Deputy Mankins noticed an odor of alcohol on the driver
Eric W. Morris, age 23, 80 Smith Drive, Marietta, and requested
he perform field sobriety tests. Subsequent to poor performance
on the field sobriety tests, Deputy Mankins arrested Mr. Morris
for OVI and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
Following a search of Mr. Morris’ vehicle prior to impoundment,
Lt. Huffer and Deputy Mankins discovered two knives readily
accessible to the driver resulting in an additional charge
of carrying a concealed weapon.
On 3 Dec 04 Deputy Sheriff Mankins responded
to the scene of a domestic dispute at the home of Sheila D.
Byner, age 40, 6466 Germantown Road, Lower Salem. Ms. Byner
stated her live-in boyfriend William B. Reynolds, age 42, struck
her in the face several times while at drinking establishments
in Marietta as well as inside a taxi en route to their home.
Mr. Reynolds confessed to striking Ms. Byner at a bar in Marietta,
was arrested for felony domestic violence for having been previously
convicted of the offense and transported to the Washington
County Jail.
On 3 Dec 04 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes initiated
a traffic stop near the intersection of State Routes 339 and
676 after pacing the vehicle he was following at 65 mph in
a 55 mph zone. The driver Todd W. McCutcheon, age 19, 10740
State Route 676, Vincent, had an odor of alcohol and admitted
consuming alcohol at a friend’s home earlier that day.
After he performed poorly on field sobriety tests, Deputy Rhodes
arrested Mr. McCutcheon for OVI and underage consumption of
alcohol and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Eric Wayne Morris, age 23, 80 Smith Drive,
Marietta, for two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, for
breach of recognizance, for consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle
and for OVI, all misdemeanors. Morris was arrested at C & C
Dodge in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 3 Dec 04 at 2:45 am.
Howard Dwight Starlin, age 31, 1455 Branch
Road, Lowell, for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor.
Starlin was arrested on Lowell Hill Road by Deputy Sheriff
Rhodes and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Dec
04 at 8:00 pm.
Todd W. McCutcheon Jr., age 19, 10740 State Route 676, Vincent,
for OVI, underage consumption of alcohol and for speeding,
all misdemeanors. McCutcheon was arrested on State Route 339
by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 3 Dec 04 at 11:45 pm.
