On 24 Oct 04 Anthony Martin, age 23, 700 Green Hill Road, Marietta, reported earlier in the evening an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked home and stole a Sony Playstation, two games, a DVD player and two DVD’s. This case remains under investigation (586).

On 24 Oct 04 an employee of Sycamore Drilling, 734 Third Street, Marietta, reported a Briggs and Stratton Elite Series generator was stolen from a well site off County Road 9 between 22 and 24 Oct. This case remains under investigation (1184).

On 24 Oct 04 Deputy Sheriff Eddy was dispatched to the home of Jackie E. Shirley, age 22, 541 Barnett Ridge Road, Belpre, in response to a domestic dispute. Ms. Shirley stated her sister Rhonda Britton, age 29, 820 Monroe Avenue, Lancaster, became incensed that she yelled at her nephew for hitting her son. Ms. Holland charged her sister, tackled her to the ground and bit her shoulder. Ms. Shirley also suffered a cut to her lip as a result of being put in a head lock by her sister. Consequently, Deputy Eddy requested a warrant for domestic violence for Ms. Holland, who fled the county to avoid arrest.

On 24 Oct 04 Curtis S. McGregor, age 25, 115 Holiday Drive, Marietta, reported after being given permission to and riding four wheelers on a friend’s property, he and a few friends were about to enter a gate on their way to the Reno Raceway when the driver of a red Ford truck slammed on his brakes, swerved off County Road 9 and struck the ATV he was driving. The collision threw Mr. McGregor and his girlfriend off the vehicle and the driver of the truck exited his vehicle screaming. Unaware Mr. McGregor had permission to ride on the property, the driver threw Mr. McGregor against a fence and hit him several times before retrieving and brandishing a shotgun the driver got from his truck. Tempers subsided and both parties left the area without further escalation though this incident remains under investigation (592, 500, 107).

On 24 Oct 04 Linda Hill, age 52, 1804 State Route 550, Bartlett, reported her husband James, age 52, left their residence last Thursday morning to return a washing machine and she has not seen or heard from him since. This case remains under investigation (597).

On 24 Oct 04 James Croston, age 27, 11031 State Route 555, Cutler, reported during an argument with his girlfriend while they stood along State Route 555 outside their home, his girlfriend allegedly poked him with a knife and threw rocks at him. Postliminary an investigation, Deputy Sheriff Gherke determined no act or threat of domestic violence occurred.

On 24 Oct 04 Deputy Sheriff Evans initiated a traffic stop on Gilman Avenue near Groves Avenue in Marietta after observing a vehicle traveling faster than the 35 mph speed limit. While identifying the driver Jacob A. Brooker, age 36, 15727 State Route 676, Waterford, Deputy Evans noticed an odor of alcohol. Mr. Brooker admitted to consuming a few beers earlier in the evening and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. As a result, Deputy Evans arrested Mr. Brooker for OVI and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
