On 18 Oct 04 a forty-nine year old Newport
resident reported her fifteen year old daughter refuses to
obey house rules, is habitually truant from school and periodically
runs away, saying she wants to live by herself. As a result
of her continuing actions, Deputy Sheriff Simmons requested
a summons for the juvenile to appear in juvenile court for
being unruly.
On 18 Oct 04 an employee of Dave’s Auto,
705 Virginia Street, Marietta, reported over the past weekend
an unknown suspect pushed in a window air conditioner, entered
the business and stole a glass jar containing approximately
thirty dollars in pennies. This case remains under investigation
(500).
On 18 Oct 04 Deputy Sheriff Evans began an
investigation into the vandalism of a cell door at the Washington
County Jail. Several witnesses stated the observed another
inmate scraping away with a comb, the black seal around a window
and stuff it into the lock for the meal tray slot in the cell
door. The facts surrounding this case were sent to the Prosecuting
Attorney’s Office for possible grand jury consideration.

Melissa A. Price, age 32, 407 McCammon Street,
Fort Mill, SC, for contempt for failing to appear on an order
to show cause on 4 Oct 04.
Brandon E. Cavitt, age 25, 223 East Euclid Avenue, Springfield,
OH, for contempt for failing to appear on an order to show
cause on 4 Oct 04.
