On 17 Oct 04 Deputy Sheriff Hall was conducting
a routine patrol on County Road 9 when he encountered a male
standing by his vehicle, speaking on his cell phone. Leonard
S. Lewis, age 24, 120 Tennis Center Drive Apt. 44, Marietta,
refused to acknowledge Deputy Hall and began walking away.
Deputy Hall exited his cruiser and Mr. Lewis shouted to Deputy
Hall to secure a shotgun in his vehicle because he feared he
would use it on himself. Deputy Hall noticed Mr. Lewis was
visibly intoxicated, arrested him for disorderly conduct by
intoxication and for having a weapon while intoxicated and
transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 17 Oct 04 Deputy Sheriff Hall investigated
a single vehicle collision near mile post three on County Road
17 in Fearing Township. Michael S. Bryan, age 20, 802 Quarry
Street, Marietta, was driving southbound on County Road 17
with one passenger when he lost control of his Dodge Intrepid
while negotiating a turn. The vehicle traveled across the centerline,
off the northbound side of the road and struck a tree. Mr.
Bryan and his passenger suffered no injuries while the vehicle
sustained disabling damage.
On 17 Oct 04 Myrtle Mercer, age 50, 565 Eyermann
Road, Belpre, reported a neighbor’s behavior caused her
to be in fear for her safety. Ms. Myrtle stated the neighbor’s
behavior has been an ongoing problem but reached a crescendo
on 12 Oct as she drove toward her home on Eyermann Road. Driving
cautiously due to the presence of children, the neighbor approached
Ms. Myrtle’s vehicle from the rear, followed closely
and continuously blew his horn before turning around in an
adjacent driveway and spinning his tires as he returned to
his home. This case remains under investigation (684).
On 17 Oct 04 Melissa D. Fulton, age 36, 510
Smith Road, Marietta, reported the previous day an acquaintance
allegedly took her son’s 1986 Nissan truck without permission.
This case remains under investigation (200).
On 17 Oct 04 William D. Tuten, age 45, 313
Lawton Road, Marietta, reported between 10:45 Saturday night
and 6 am Sunday morning, an unknown suspect stole a Delphi
satellite radio receiver from his truck and ten dollars in
cash from his son’s Blazer. This case remains under investigation
(200).
On 17 Oct 04 a thirty-nine year old Waterford
resident reported his seventeen year old daughter did not return
home when so ordered. The juvenile phoned home at 11:30 the
previous evening requesting to stay out later but was asked
to return home. At 6 am the juvenile still had not returned
home and was later determined to be at her boyfriend’s
home. As a result of this and two similar incidents, Deputy
Sheriff Norman requested a summons for the juvenile to appear
in juvenile court for being unruly.
On 17 Oct 04 an employee of Eagle Fireworks,
26430 State Route 7, Marietta, reported at 3:40 that afternoon,
an unknown suspect wearing a ski mask and purporting to have
a gun robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect is a white male, weighing between 130 and 140 pounds.
Any citizen with information pertaining to this incident is
urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately. This
case remains under investigation (684).
On 17 Oct 04 Pamela D. Campbell, age 33, 555
Eyermann Road, Belpre, reported a neighbor, who was previously
warned to stay off her property, ignored the order and entered
her yard to retrieve a ball. This case remains under investigation
(684).
On 17 Oct 04 a thirty-four year old Marietta
resident reported her seventeen year old daughter left their
residence with her boyfriend at 3 pm Friday afternoon and she
has not seen or heard from her since. This case remains under
investigation (586).

Joey Lee Hill, age 21, 1436 Sandhill Road,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Hill was arrested at the Locker Room in Marietta by Probation
Officer Ferrell and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 17 Oct 04 at 1:00 am.
Jeffrey Alan Theiss, age 26, 27130 State Route
7, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Theiss
was arrested at the Locker Room in Marietta by Probation Officer
Ketelsen and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17
Oct 04 at 1:00 am.

while intoxicated, both misdemeanors. Lewis was arrested on
Millers Lane in Marietta by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 17 Oct 04 at 3:10 am.
James Patrick Moats, age 29, 265 Tyrone Avery Road, Morgantown,
WV, for complicity, a misdemeanor. Moats was arrested at his
residence by Bondsman Eddy and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 17 Oct 04 at 11:45 am.
Patricia Ann Moats, age 29, 537 Rich View Drive, Kingwood,
WV, for four counts of passing bad checks, all misdemeanors.
