On 15 Oct 04 a bus driver for the Frontier
Local School District reported observing two students smoking
marijuana on the bus the previous afternoon. A review of an
in-bus video confirmed the driver’s suspicion and the
two juveniles were questioned by Deputy Sheriff Willson. A
fifteen year old Newport resident confessed to smoking marijuana
in a homemade pipe and that he concealed the pipe in a soda
can in a friend’s jacket. This case is closed pending
delinquency charges in juvenile court.
On 15 Oct 04 Deputy Sheriff Mankins was investigating
a claim of telephone harassment at a Newport residence when
the suspect called the home again. The victim told the caller
repeatedly not to call back and was also ordered by Deputy
Mankins to cease harassing the victim. The suspect immediately
phoned again resulting in Deputy Mankins requesting a summons
for Melissa D. Berga, age 30, 4875 Rainbow Road, Lowell, for
telecommunications harassment.
On 15 Oct 04 Detective Jenkins issued a citation
to Joshua L. Bonnette, age 26, Route 5 Box 373, Marietta, for
failure to register for having an expired license plate tag.
Detective Jenkins stopped Mr. Bonnette on Colegate Drive near
Sunset Lane in Marietta.
On 15 Oct 04 Mark E. Rader, age 22, 9544 State
Route 550, Vincent, a current inmate at the Washington County
Jail, reported during a dispute during lunch that day another
inmate put him in a headlock and punched him once in the face.
This case remains under investigation (695).
On 15 Oct 04 a sixty-seven year old Marietta
resident reported an acquaintance may have taken and used one
of his credit cards without permission to do so. This case
remains under investigation (602).
On 15 Oct 04 Chad A. Hoon, age 18, 5672 State
Route 550, Cutler, reported his 2005 Yamaha Raptor ATV was
stolen from the bed of truck between 9 am and 12 pm that morning.
This case remains under investigation (200).
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrant:
Curt Hendershot, age 33, 2030 Armstrong Ridge
Road, New Matamoras, for contempt for failing to appear on
an order to show cause on 26 Apr 04.
The following individual
WAS processed into the Washington County Jail:
Howard Edward Baker, age 32, 323 Seventh Street,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Baker was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Oct 04
at 3:00 pm.
