On 13 Oct 04 the Sheriff’s Office assisted
the Beverly Police Department in an investigation concerning
the breaking and entering of Miles of Smiles at 308 Fifth Street
in Beverly, not 660 Corner Road in Waterford (698).
On 13 Oct 04 Deputy Sheriff Spencer investigated
a two vehicle collision in the parking lot of 27381 State Route
7, Marietta. Cassidy N. Miller, age 19, 134 Cornerstone Drive,
Marietta, finished backing her Dodge Neon from a parking stall
and prepared to proceed forward when a seventeen year old Waterford
resident backed into the driver’s side quarter panel
of Ms. Miller’s vehicle. Both vehicles sustained minor
damage and were driven from the scene.
On 13 Oct 04 the Sheriff’s Office assisted

On 13 Oct 04 Warren Carter, the vice principal
at Warren High School relayed information to Deputy Sheriff
Willson he received via a concerned citizen. The citizen stated
he followed a juvenile to the school after he witnessed the
juvenile driving erratically and drinking a beer on the way
to school that morning. Mr. Carter observed a partially full
bottle of beer in the student’s vehicle and the student
later admitted to Deputy Willson he consumed part of the beer
before arriving at school. As a result, Deputy Willson requested
a summons for the juvenile to appear in juvenile court for
being delinquent.
On 13 Oct 04 Terrence E. Malone, age 57, 2120
State Route 550, Bartlett, reported receiving a bill for a
phone line that is not his. Further investigation concluded
the phone line belonged to another Terry Malone who resides
in Newport. The phone company was contacted and the issue resolved
(200).
On 13 Oct 04 a seventeen year old Belpre resident
reported between Saturday and Tuesday afternoons, a honey-like
substance was poured into the gas tank of her Eagle Talon.
This case remains under investigation (684).
On 13 Oct 04 a concerned citizen reported
observing a black Ford Mustang driving in a haphazard manner
along Pike Street in Marietta. Detective Seevers located the
vehicle on Green Street and initiated a traffic stop after
witnessing the driver of the vehicle fail to signal turns and
change lanes improperly. Moments later, Lt. Canavan arrived
at the scene to administer field sobriety tests to Richard
G. Thomas, age 51, Greenbrier Circle, Marietta. Mr. Thomas
performed poorly on the tests he attempted and informed Lt.
Canavan he could not complete the remaining tasks. In consequence,
Lt. Canavan arrested Mr. Thomas for OVI and transported him
to the Washington County Jail.

Richard D. Bailey, age 48, Route 8 Box 293A,
Marietta, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered
hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $367.90.
Charles A. Brown Jr., age 52, 715 Third Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear
at a court ordered hearing on 4 Oct 04.
Joshua L. Bungard, age 21, 2300 First Street, Moundsville,
WV, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $335.40.
Justin L. Burke, age 23, 1705 Park Avenue, Parkersburg, for
contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on
unpaid fines in the sum of $299.
James P. Croston, age 23, 1207 County House Lane, Marietta,
for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $273.
Dana Curry, age 32, 114 Elmwood Avenue, Marietta, for passing
a bad check for $329 at the Whipple General Store on 30 Aug
04.
Jess D. Day, age 22, 1525 18th Street, Parkersburg, for contempt
for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines in the sum of $234.
Amy M. Gheen, 184 Fourth Street, Lowell, for contempt for
failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines
in the sum of $162.50.
Marcus N. Johnson, age 23, 31 Union Street, Springfield, MA,
for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $162.50.
Mary E. Kerns, age 18, 14 Mountaineer Trailer Park, Williamstown,
for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $169.
Thomas A. Knighten, age 36, 33787 Griffin Road, Rinard Mills,
for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $74.10.
Juanita D. Lynn, age 27, Pennock Trailer Court Lot 49, Beverly,
for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $55.90.
Ada M. Mayle, age 59, 25380 Brimstone Road, Coolville, for
contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on
unpaid fines in the sum of $110.50.
Rapheal O. Ray, age 20, 3335 Union Street, Akron, for contempt
for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines in the sum of $195.
Dixie K. Taulbee, age 41, 14078 State Route 6645, Logan, OH,
for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $162.50
Anthony P. Thompson, age 37, 407 Eighth Street Lot 9, Belpre,
for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $284.70.
Brandon Hoffert, age 19, 211 Main Street,
Macksburg, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered
hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $1,686.10.
Jeffrey W. Hunn, age 18, 122 Harmar Street, Marietta, for
failure to appear at arraignment on charges of theft and forgery.
Naomi J. Mayle, age 38, Route 2 Box 5A State Route 60, Lowell,
for possession of drug paraphernalia on 29 May 04.
Jon F. Melrose, 1312A Glendale Road, Marietta, for failure
to confine or restrain a dog on his premises on 3 Sep 04.
Michael O’Neil, age 45, 51 Jacobs Avenue, Chauncey,
for failing to appear at a debtor’s exam on 24 Sep 04.
The following
individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Matthew Thomas Lutzen, age 25, 5036 Burnett
Road, Cutler, for possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia,
for not wearing a seat belt, speed and for failing to appear
at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, all misdemeanors.
Lutzen was arrested in Barlow by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 13 Oct 04
at 9:55 am.
Judson Thomas Pratt, age 35, 4864 ½ Tujunga Avenue,
Hollywood, CA, for driving under a suspended license and for
speeding, both misdemeanors. Pratt was arrested near mile post
thirteen on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 13 Oct 04
at 12:45 pm.
Richard George Thomas, age 51, 145 Greenbrier Circle, Marietta,
for OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel,
both misdemeanors. Thomas was arrested in Marietta by Lt. Canavan
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 13 Oct 04 at 1:25 pm.
Timothy John Bookman, age 23, 300 Stanley Street, Newport,
for endangering children and for possession of drug paraphernalia,
both misdemeanors. Bookman was arrested in Marietta Municipal
Court by Lt. Wilson of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 13
Oct 04 at 3:10 pm.
Ryan O’Neil Nichols, age 28, 341 Tadpole
Run Road, Belpre, for violating the terms of his probation,
a misdemeanor. Nichols
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 13 Oct 04 at 4:45
pm.
Angel Jean Lockhart, age 30, 437336 State
Route 26, Graysville, OH, for failing to appear at a court
ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Lockhart was arrested near the Monroe
County line by Deputy Sheriff Spencer and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 13 Oct 04 at 7:05 pm.
