While driving on Coffman Road in Warren Township
around 4:30 this morning Richard D. Smith, age 38, 672 Hill
Road, Cutler, pulled his 1999 Chevy truck to the side of the
road after smelling smoke coming from the engine. Thereafter
exiting the vehicle, flames erupted around the firewall, engulfing
the truck in flames. Mr. Smith was uninjured during the incident
while his truck was deemed a total loss (1183, 684).
On 23 Sep 04 Kristi Schoonover, age 40, Pennock
Trailer Court Lot 4, Beverly, reported her deceased live-in
boyfriend’s family forcibly entered her home without
permission and removed three rifles, two toolboxes and other
personal items. Deputy Sheriff Eddy recovered and took control
of the property and Ms. Schoonover desired not to pursue charges.
On 23 Sep 04 Jill Flinn, age 29, 154 First
Street, Vincent, reported a visiting acquaintance slapped her
across the lower jaw. This case remains under investigation
(586).
On 23 Sep 04 an employee of the State of Ohio
Adult Parole Authority reported while his truck was parked
outside his residence, his badge and articles of clothing were
stolen from the front seat between 10:30 Wednesday night and
7:30 Thursday morning. This case remains under investigation
(586).

Office received the following warrants:
Betty A. Hanshew, age 29, 311 Nutter Avenue
Lot 6, Belpre, for breach of her recognizance for failing to
appear for a pretrial hearing on 10 Sep 04.
Eric D. Jett, age 21, 350 Elk River Road,
Clendenin, WV, for violating the terms of his probation on
a conviction of the illegal assembly
or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.
Amanda D. Wharton, age 23, 205B Gibbons Street, Marietta,
for breach of her recognizance for failing to appear for a
pretrial hearing on 1 Sep 04.
The following
individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Majed Abdullah Maliki, age 22, 400 16th Street,
Parkersburg, for two misdemeanor charges of assault. Maliki
was arrested on Green Street in Marietta by Detective Nohe
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 23 Sep 04 at 11:40 am.
Regina Lea Shahan, age 24, 2314 Clement Avenue, Parkersburg,
for driving under a suspended license and for operating with
expired license plates, both misdemeanors. Shahan was arrested
in Belpre by Patrolman Williams of the Belpre City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Sep 04
at 12:20 pm.
Vasco Annes Corte-Real, age 33, 22 ½ Washington Boulevard,
Belpre, a fugitive from justice, a felony. Corte-Real was arrested
on State Route 7 by Detective Jenkins of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 23 Sep 04 at 1:35 pm.
Mitchell Lee Greenwood, PO Box 314 Greene Street, Newport,
for violating the terms of jis probation, a misdemeanor. Greenwood
was arrested at his residence by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Sep 04
at 4:55 pm.
Christopher Alan Lee, age 43, 203 Main Street, Coshocton,
OH, for OVI, speeding, driving under a suspended license and
for not wearing a seat belt. Lee was arrested on Interstate
77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 23 Sep 04 at 5:55 pm.
William Walter Summers, age 47, 48th Street, Cleveland, for
failure to appear and for breach of recognizance, both felonies.
Summers was picked up in Cleveland by Deputy Sheriff Coppernoll
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Sep 04
at 8:10 pm.
