On 20 Sep 04 Deputy Sheriff Bichard initiated
a traffic stop on State Route 60 after observing the driver
of a vehicle fail to stop when turning from Chamberlain Drive.
Deputy Sheriff Evans arrived to proctor the driver, Andrew
L. Pickens, age 25, 1523 Masonic Park Road, Marietta, as he
performed field sobriety tests. Mr. Pickens performed poorly
on the tests, was arrested for OVI and for failing to stop
at a stop sign and transported to the Washington County Jail
where he was released on a personal recognizance bond.
On 20 Sep 04 Gary Francis, age 62, 300 Francis
Road, Lowell, reported between 8 am and 4 pm that day an unknown
suspect(s) cut the wires leading to and stole the electric
meter from the side of his house. This case remains under investigation
(1203).
On 20 Sep 04 Kevin M. Friend Sr., age 52,
1409 Rocky Point Road, Vincent, reported his girlfriend received
a phone call from her ex-father in law on behalf of her ex-husband
William H. Hall, age 46, 99 High Street, Vincent. Mr. Friend
further stated as a result of a prior altercation with Mr.
Hall, he has a protection order forbidding Mr. Hall to call
his residence. In consequence Deputy Sheriff Gherke arrested
Mr. Hall for violating the terms of a protection order and
transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 20 Sep 04 Detective Jenkins and Deputy
Sheriff Eddy were dispatched to the scene of a domestic dispute
at 2975 State Route 26 in Marietta. James E. Sandy, age 27,
stated he and his live-in girlfriend Mary E. McKitrick, age
26, were arguing over money when Ms. McKitrick became violent.
Mr. Sandy further elaborated that Ms. McKitrick punched him
in the back as he sat on the floor with their child and proceeded
to tear off his shirt and scratch his back with her fingernails.
Determining Mr. Sandy was in fear for his safety, Detective
Jenkins arrested Ms. McKitrick for domestic violence and transported
her to the Washington County Jail where she was released on
a personal recognizance bond.
On 20 Sep 04 Detective Alkire encountered
a thirty-eight year old Newport resident attempted to drive
his Jeep through a road marked closed with cones at the intersection
of State Route 7 and County Road 25 in Newport. Refusing to
replace the cones he moved, the suspect became belligerent
and again attempted to move forward. The suspect finally reversed
direction without stopping to replace the cones and as a result
of his wanton negligence two vehicles drove into the restricted
area. This incident remains under investigation.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Shaun Allen Griffin, age 20, 211 Scammel Street
Apt. 1, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered
hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Griffin was arrested
on Harmar Street in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken of the
Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 20 Sep 04 at 2:55 am.
Andrew Lee Pickens, age 25, 1523 Masonic Park Road, Marietta,
for OVI and for failure to obey a traffic control device, both
misdemeanors. Pickens was arrested on State Route 60 by Deputy
Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 20 Sep 04 at 3:30 am.
William Howard Hall, age 46, 99 High Street, Vincent, for
violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor. Hall
was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Gherke and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Sep 04 at 10:20
pm.
Mary Elizabeth McKitrick, age 26, 2975 State Route 26, Marietta,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. McKitrick was arrested
at her residence by Detective Jenkins of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 20 Sep 04 at 10:20 pm.
