On 26 Aug 04 an employee of Napoli’s
Pizza at 6965 State Route 339, Vincent, reported receiving
a bad check in the amount of $14.89 on 9 Jun 04. This case
remains under investigation (8411).
On 26 Aug 04 Deputy Sheriff Evans began an
investigation into an assault that occurred at 15590 State
Route 555 in Cutler. Deputy Evans spoke with the victim Denise
Fought, age 44, 55 Pine Street, Davisville, WV, at St. Joseph’s
Hospital where she was recovering injuries suffered at the
hand of her boyfriend Geoffrey A. Davis, age 48. An argument
reached its crescendo when Mr. Davis burst into the bedroom
where Ms. Fought was watching television and backhanded her
in the mouth. Mr. Davis continued to assault Ms. Fought throughout
and outside the home, striking her head against the ground
and kicking her numerous times before returning inside and
barricading the front door shut. Ms. Fought was later able
to escape the home with the assistance of her mother to receive
medical care. Based on the severity of Ms. Fought’s injuries,
Deputy Evans appeared at the residence to arrest Mr. Davis
for felonious assault and abduction only for Mr. Davis to flee
on foot. With the assistance of Deputy McLeish and his bloodhound
Beauregard, Mr. Davis was tracked approximately three miles
through the wilderness and finally apprehended near the cemetery
in Bartlett. Mr. Davis was then transported to the Washington
County Jail where he is being held without bond.
On 26 Aug 04 a Macksburg resident reported
a town hall meeting held on 17 Aug 04 was out of control. This
case remains under investigation (500).
On 26 Aug 04 Charles B. Brown, age 72, 1115
Coal Run Road, Marietta, reported during the past five weeks
a Yard Man shredder, a Craftsman air compressor and a chainsaw
were stolen from his garage and storage building. This case
remains under investigation (296).
On 26 Aug 04 Stephanie O’Brien, age
28, 2610 Braun Road, Belpre, reported her live-in boyfriend
Steven Barnhart, age 50, woke her up screaming and held her
arms down while continuing to berate her. Determining Ms. O’Brien
was in fear for her safety, Deputy Sheriff Stackpole requested
a summons for Mr. Barnhart for domestic violence.
On 26 Aug 04 a fifteen year old Reno resident
reported her father threatened her and her siblings for not
taking care of their animals. Through conflicting statements
Deputy Sheriff Gherke could not substantiate any threat or
claim of physical contact.
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrants:
Brent A. Dunn, age 20, 85 Dunn Lane, New Matamoras,
for falsification for making a false statement in a document
on 30 Jun 04.
Joyce A. Joy, age 60, 90 Ferncliff Drive, Marietta, for failing
to require her dog to wear a dog tag.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Geoffrey Allen Davis, age 48, PO Box 48, Bartlett,
for felonious assault, felony abduction and a misdemeanor charge
of possession of drug paraphernalia. Davis was arrested in
Bartlett by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 26 Aug 04 at 7:20 pm.
Jason Michael Temple, age 26, 936 Sharpe Hospital Road, Weston,
WV, for a felony charge of receiving stolen property and two
misdemeanor charges of failure to appear. Temple turned himself
in to Patrolman Smeeks at the Belpre City Police Department
and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Aug
04 at 9:15 pm.
Alicia Dawn Hanson, age 20, 18189 State Route
339, Waterford, for perjury, a felony. Hanson was arrested
at her residence
by Detective Warden of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26
Aug 04 at 9:50 pm.
