Near midnight on 5 Aug 04 Tina A. McCarty,
age 40, 125 Hickory Street, Lowell, reported seeing an unknown
male pushing her son’s ATV down the driveway. When confronted
the seventeen year old and his non-accomplice friend fled. Ms.
McCarty caught up to the pair as they entered the Fox Den on
State Route 821. Deputy Sheriff Wells contacted the suspect
at the Fox Den and as a result of his investigation requested
a summons for the seventeen year old to appear in juvenile court.
On 5 Aug 04 Jay E. Wagner, age 45, 284 Cats
Creek Road, Lowell, reported a Yard Machine riding lawn mower
with a forty-two inch cutting deck and a green dog box with
a stainless steel door were stolen from a property he owns at
2430 Sand Hill Road, Marietta. This case remains under investigation
(597).
On 5 Aug 04 an employee of the Humane Society
of the Ohio Valley, 90 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, reported a
hundred dollars in cash and three personal checks were stolen
from the organization earlier that afternoon. This case remains
under investigation (597).
On 5 Aug 04 a fourteen year old Little Hocking
resident reported his sixteen year old sister threatened to
kill him because he did not answer a call on call waiting from
his sister’s boyfriend. In consequence Deputy Sheriff
Stackpole requested a summons for the sixteen year old to appear
in juvenile court.
On 5 Aug 04 Sgt. Hiatt responded to the scene
of the death of a sixty-two year old Marietta man. No foul play
is suspected; the death appears to be due to natural causes
(690) (1091).
On 5 Aug 04 Lt. Wilson initiated a traffic
stop on State Route 7 at the Belpre Exit after observing a vehicle
traveling on County Road 51 operating with one functioning headlight.
As Lt. Wilson approached, William R. Simers, age 44, 35 Wildwood
Lake Road, Coolville, exited the vehicle. Lt. Wilson noticed
Mr. Simers smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and observed
an open beer can on the floorboard. Mr. Simers admitted consuming
the beer while he was driving and performed poorly on following
field sobriety tests. Arriving at the scene, Deputy Sheriff
Stackpole performed a search of the vehicle and found an unloaded
.22 caliber pistol, which was a violation of a protection order,
behind the front seat. While being taken into custody Lt. Wilson
also found a bag of marijuana in the pocket of Mr. Simers. Charged
with having a weapon while under disability, the improper handling
of a firearm in a motor vehicle, .08 breath OVI, possession
of drugs, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle and for violating
a court ordered protection order, Mr. Simers was transported
to the Washington County Jail where he was given the option
to post a $7,450 bond.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Michael P. Hollingsworth, age 25, 2255 Blue
Knob Hill Road, Marietta, for littering, obstructing official
business and for three counts of contempt of a court order,
all misdemeanors. Hollingsworth was arrested on Greene Street
in Marietta by Patrolman Hickey of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
5 Aug 04 at 4:30 am.
Amber Lynn Lowers, age 23, 703 Ninth Street,
Marietta, for five felony charges of forgery as well as felony
and misdemeanor charges of theft. Lowers was arrested her residence
by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Aug 04 at
9:45 am.
Jason Alvin Harguess, age 33, 2367 Moody Ridge
Road, Vincent, for passing bad checks, a misdemeanor. Harguess
was picked up in Morgan County by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Aug 04 at 10:30
am.
Timothy Alan Hall, age 32, 10 Browns Road Apt.
2B, Marietta, a fugitive from justice, a felony. Hall was arrested
his residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Aug
04 at 11:15 am.
Justin Allen Harris, age 22, Ridge Road, Lowell,
for contempt, a misdemeanor. Harris was arrested his residence
by Detective Schuck of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Aug
04 at 3:00 pm.
