On 29 Jul 04 John A. Van Reeth, age 50, PO
Box 112, Belpre, reported while patronizing the Station Carryout
on Joe Skinner Road in Belpre, a man he did not know accosted
him and punched him in the jaw. This case remains under investigation
(296).
On 29 Jul 04 Melanie A. Tidd, age 40, Merchant
Street Lot 7, New Matamoras, reported between 18 and 29 Jul,
her daughter’s Jin Cheng JC004 dirt bike was stolen from
their storage unit behind Victory Polaris in Reno. This case
remains under investigation (1203).
On 29 Jul 04 Francis J. Huck, age 79, Route
3 Box 267, Marietta, reported between 8 am and 5 pm that day,
a John Deere and a Cub Cadet riding lawn mower were stolen from
a barn on her property. The tractors were later recovered and
summonses issued for two thirteen year olds who carried out
the theft (107).
On 29 Jul 04 Richard L. Camden II, age 29,
836 Pike Street Apt. 14, Marietta, reported an unknown suspect
entered his vehicle the previous evening and stole his JVC CD
receiver and remote control. This case remains under investigation
(296).
On 29 Jul 04 a thirty-five year old Marietta
woman reported an acquaintance with an unrequited infatuation
with her continues to phone her after repeatedly being asked
not to do so. This case remains under investigation (1184).
On 29 Jul 04 Deputy Sheriff Stackpole was dispatched
to the scene of a possible burglary in progress on Carson Lane
in Belpre. Deputy Stackpole found a vehicle matching the victim’s
description and initiated a traffic stop on State Route 618
after the alleged perpetrator failed to use his turn signal.
In speaking with the driver, Robert S. Horvat, age 38, 29 Hickory
Drive, Little Hocking, Deputy Stackpole noticed an odor of alcohol
and that Mr. Horvat swayed as he exited the vehicle. Mr. Horvat
performed poorly on field sobriety tests, was arrested for OVI
and criminal damaging for breaking the glass door of the residence
on Carson Street and transported to the Washington County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Sherman Ray Vaughn, age 20, 1329 124th Street,
Cleveland, for a felony charge of possession of drugs and misdemeanor
charges of speeding and driving under an FRA suspended license.
Vaughn was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Jul
04 at 12:50 am.
Michael Matthew Bembry, age 20, 13808 Othello
Street, Cleveland, for possession of drugs, a felony. Bembry
was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Jul 04 at
12:55 am.
Brandon Oscar Chambers, age 22, 1703 33rd Street,
Lorain, OH, for a felony charge of possession of drugs and a
misdemeanor charge of giving false information to avoid a ticket.
Chambers was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Jul
04 at 3:10 am.
Marcus Norman Johnson, age 23, 316 Union Street,
Springfield, MA, for possession of drugs and speeding, both
misdemeanors. Johnson was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio
State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 29 Jul 04 at 3:10 am.
Robert Stacy Horvat, age 38, 29 Hickory Drive,
Little Hocking, for .08 breath OVI and for criminal damaging,
both misdemeanors. Horvat was arrested on State Route 618 by
Deputy Sheriff Stackpole and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 29 Jul 04 at 5:14 am.
Kathy Marie Craig, age 41, Marietta, a fugitive
from justice, a felony. Craig was arrested at Motel 8 by Patrolman
Hearn of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 29 Jul 04 at 9:40 am.
Cecil Raymond Lawson Jr., age 22, 114 Court
Street, Ripley, WV, for two misdemeanor charges of violating
the terms of his probation. Lawson was picked up at the South
Central Regional Jail by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 29 Jul 04 at 4:15 pm.
Ricky Dwayne Stevens, age 37, Chesterhill,
OH, for felony charges of trafficking in drugs and drug possession
and misdemeanor charges of failure to appear, possession of
drugs, speeding and for driving under a suspended license. Stevens
was picked up at the Central Regional Jail by Deputy Sheriff
Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29
Jul 04 at 4:30 pm.
