On 26 Jul 04 Deputy Sheriff Spencer investigated a case of criminal damaging at the Washington County Jail on Westview Drive in Marietta. Several inmates stated they were throwing wads of paper at each other when on inmate picked up the television remote and hurled it at the wall. This case remains under investigation (232).

On 26 Jul 04 Deputy Sheriff Evans issued a citation to Richard Hsieh, age 51, 100 Willowbrook Drive Apt. 75, Parkersburg, for traveling 91 mph in a 65 mph zone. Deputy Evans stopped Mr. Hsieh at mile post twelve on Interstate 77 in Salem Township.

On 26 Jul 04 Deputy Sheriff Gherke investigated a disturbance between Christine Baker, age 23, and her father at 280 Indian Run Road, Marietta. Through his investigation, Deputy Gherke learned Ms. Baker arrived home in an intoxicated state, was verbally abusive and confrontational with her father. Deputy Sheriff Gherke arrested Ms. Baker for disorderly conduct and placed her in his patrol car. A friend of Ms. Baker, Brett Ludwig, age 32, 333 Fifth Street, Marietta, inquired of Deputy Gherke the possibility of getting a ride to his residence in Marietta, a request Deputy Gherke obliged. For his safety, Deputy Gherke searched Mr. Ludwig before entering the patrol car and discovered a pipe containing marijuana residue. Deputy Gherke arrested Mr. Ludwig for possession of drug paraphernalia and along with Ms. Baker, transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 26 Jul 04 Sgt. Jobes and Deputy Sheriff Gherke were dispatched to 194 High Street in Vincent in response to Susan McIntire, age 55, reporting her son Jonathan E. Jennings, age 31, choked her and was wielding a knife and threatening to harm himself. As they attempted to arrest Mr. Jennings for domestic violence, Mr. Jennings became combative, repeatedly attempted to hit the Deputies and tried pulling Sgt. Jobes’ gun from his holster. Mr. Jennings failed to capitulate when sprayed with pepper spray and was finally subdued when Sgt. Jobes deployed his Taser, striking Mr. Jennings in the chest. After being treated at Selby Hospital Mr. Jennings was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with domestic violence, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer and for aggravated robbery for attempting to remove the firearm of Sgt. Jobes.

Angelina M. Casteel, Route 9 Box 13, Marietta, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 16 Jul 04.

Laura Galloway, 816 ½ Leonard Avenue, Belpre, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $213.50.

Jared L. Gillespie, age 31, 14403 State Route 676, Waterford, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $719.

Kelly M. Grayson, age 35, 1305 15th Street, Vienna, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $210.50.

Douglas A. Harlow, age 37, 305 North Main Street, Englewood, OH, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of
$281.50.

Yvonne M. Hicks, age 34, 845 County House Lane, Marietta, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $114.

Joyce A. Koon, age 358, Route 4 Box 208, Marietta, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 16 Jul 04.

Kim Patterson, age 31, 39068 Stonehouse Road, Woodsfield, OH, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $42.50.

William E. Patterson, age 37, 39068 Stonehouse Road Woodsfield, OH, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $41.

Rosalie M. Powell, age 26, 890 Rainbow Road, Waterford, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $175.

Jackie L. Stringer, age 43, Route 6 Box 275-7, Charleston, WV, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $204.

Velmi I. Tidd, age 53, PO Box 456, Newport, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 11 Jun 04.

Andrew B. Tucker, age 21, 29630 State Route 7, Marietta, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $239.

Billie D. Winland, age 57, PO Box 628 Route 2 Box 468A, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 16 Jul 04.

Michael S. Ayers, age 20, Route 1 Box 73, Little Hocking, for violating the terms of his probation after having been convicted of vandalism.

Trent E. Bunting, age 40, 72 East Lasalle Street Apt. 8, South Zanesville, for contempt for failing to appear before the court and for failing to pay child support as ordered by the court.

David W. Glover, age 33, 19367 Walnut Street, Trimble, OH, for contempt for failing to appear before the court and for failing to comply with a court order regarding payment of spousal support as ordered by the court.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Larry Travis Lang, age 24, 3701 Plum Run Road, Waterford, for assault, a misdemeanor. Lang was arrested at Quimby’s Bar by Patrolman Skinner of the Beverly Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 04 at 1:00 am.

Betty Ann Hanshew, age 29, 639 Newark Acres, Elizabeth, WV, for driving under an FRA suspended license, a misdemeanor. Hanshew was arrested on State Route 618 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 04 at 1:30 am.

Brett Alan Ludwig, age 32, 333 Fifth Street, Marietta, for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Ludwig was arrested on Indian Run Road by Deputy Sheriff Gherke and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 04 at 2:15 am.

Christine Gayle Baker, age 23, 280 Indian Run Road, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Baker was arrested on Indian Run Road by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 04 at 2:15 am.

Ronnie Lee McQueary, age 40, State Route 555, Cutler, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. McQueary was picked up at the Southeastern Regional Jail in Charleston by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 04 at 3:50 pm.

Philip Gene Covey, age 26, 122 Franklin Street, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Covey was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Nedeff of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jul 04 at 4:00 pm.
