SPECIAL NEWS RELEASE
On 12 July 2004, 9:39 a.m. the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office responded to a duress alarm in Washington
County Common Pleas Courtroom B. It was reported that Jason
Allberry stated that he had ingested a poisonous fluid prior
to and during the hearing for Contempt. Jason Allberry made
this statement to Judge Lane, while on the witness stand. Deputies
arrived at approximately 9:42 a.m. Upon arrival officers were
advised by Mr. Allberry that he had drunk anti-freeze. Marietta
Fire Department responded and transported Mr. Allberry to Marietta
Memorial Hospital and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.

On 12 Jul 04 Lt. Canavan issued a citation
to Marion B. Cody, age 47, 39949 State Route 7, Newport, for
traveling 53 mph in a 40 mph zone. Lt. Canavan stopped Ms. Cody
at mile post thirty-nine on State Route 7 in Newport Township.
On 12 Jul 04 Deputy Sheriff Gherke issued a
citation to Justin E. Eason, age 21, 118 Bartlett Street, Marietta,
for driving with a registration that expired in November of
2003. Deputy Gherke stopped Mr. Eason on State Route 7 near
Pearl Street in Marietta.
On 12 Jul 04 Deputy Sheriff Evans issued citations
to Jonathan M. Wheeler, age 21, Southgate Trailer Park Lot 80,
Marietta, for reckless operation and passing in a no passing
zone. Deputy Evans initiated the traffic stop after he was forced
to pull to the side of the road as Mr. Wheeler passed another
vehicle at a high rate of speed on Hills Bridge Road near Zion
Ridge Road in Newport Township.
On 12 Jul 04 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes responded
to a residence on Ayers Boulevard in Belpre regarding a report
that two juvenile males were throwing rocks and breaking windows
of the home. This case remains under investigation (200).
On 12 Jul 04 Lt. Huffer and Deputy Sheriff
Brockmeier were dispatched to the Bartlett Corner Store in response
to a possible domestic dispute. Upon their arrival witnesses
informed the Deputies the two parties left in separate vehicles
and furnished a license plate number registered to Cassandra
Flowers, age 23, 22576 State Route 550, Amesville. After he
located Ms. Flowers at a residence on Patten Mills Road, Ms.
Flowers informed Lt. Huffer only a verbal dispute took place
at the Bartlett Corner Store. But Ms. Flowers elaborated that
while at another friend’s house in Cutler earlier in the
afternoon, the father of her child, Aaron C. Goins, age 32,
Route 1 Box 146, Amesville, enveloped her with both arms and
threatened to harm her. Ms. Flowers then drove Mr. Goins to
the Bartlett Corner Store where he departed in a vehicle driven
by a friend. Lt. Huffer caught up to the suspect vehicle driven
by Adam J. Trus, age 26, 36 Powell Road, Cutler, and a computer
check determined Mr. Trus was driving under a suspended license
and placed under arrest. Mr. Goins was arrested from the passenger
side and along with Mr. Trus, transported to the Washington
County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
John Aaron Givens, age 23, 100 Linwood Avenue
Lot B, Marietta, for violating the terms of his parole, a felony.
Givens was arrested on Linwood Avenue by Deputy Sheriff Evans
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Jul 04 at
2:27 am.
Adam Joseph Trus, age 26, 14350 State Route
555, Cutler, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor.
Trus was arrested in Wesley Township by Lt. Huffer of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 12 Jul 04 at 9:20 pm.
Aaron Christopher Goins, age 32, Route 1 Box
146, Amesville, for felony and misdemeanor charges of domestic
violence. Goins was arrested in Wesley Township by Lt. Huffer
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 12 Jul 04 at 9:25 pm.
Heather Dawn Cantwell, age 18, 173 Riverview
Estates, St. Marys, WV, for theft, a misdemeanor. Cantwell was
arrested at Wal-Mart by Patrolman Hearn of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 12 Jul 04 at 10:00 pm.
