On 27 Jun 04 Marvin Hanger, age 53, 11445 State
Route 339, reported after evicting a tenant from and changing
the locks on a residence on State Route 339, the tenant allegedly
broke the lock on the front door to retrieve her belongings
and stole a curtain belonging to Mr. Hanger. This case remains
under investigation (1090).
On 27 Jun 04 John W. Miracle, age 42, 1620 Muskingum
River Road, Marietta, reported a Powerwheels Jeep was stolen
from his yard between 24 and 27 Jun 04. This case remains under
investigation (200).
On 27 Jun 04 Sgt. Hiatt and Deputy Sheriff Rhodes
were dispatched to 21260 State Route 676 Apt. 6, Marietta, to
check the welfare of the home’s resident Donald C. Gerdau,
age 46. When the Deputies arrived Mr. Gerdau invited them in
and appeared to be in a state of intoxication. Mr. Gerdau threatened
to harm himself and suddenly lunged for a dish containing pills
and swallowed twenty to twenty-five of them. Subsequent to being
given permission to determine the content of the pills, Deputy
Rhodes began examining pill bottles and located a marijuana-smoking
pipe belonging to Mr. Gerdau. As Mr. Gerdau was being treated
at Marietta Memorial Hospital Deputy Rhodes requested a summons
for Mr. Gerdau for disorderly conduct by intoxication and possession
of drug paraphernalia.
On 27 Jun 04 a sixteen year old Cutler resident
reported her father grabbed her by the throat. Through an investigation
Deputy Sheriff Stackpole determined the father inadvertently
grabbed the unruly juvenile’s neck as he forced her to
leave a residence where she desired stay. This case is closed
as unfounded.
On 27 Jun 04 Deputy Sheriff Simmons investigated
a possible domestic dispute at the home of Mary R. Francis,
age 41, 761 Big Horn Court, Marietta. Deputy Simmons closed
the case after both parties involved refused to cooperate.
On 27 Jun 04 Deputy Sheriff Norman was dispatched
to Catfisherman’s Paradise on County Road 3 in Marietta
in response to a raucous group of customers harassing other
customers and employees. Postliminary to confirming the accounts
of witnesses, Deputy Norman arrested Michael Anthony Henry,
age 19, Econo Lodge Room 141, Franklin, OH, Curtis Scott Nickell,
age 19, 7577 Shartz Road, Springboro, OH, James Weldon Quillen
III, age 19, 523 Sunnybrook Drive, Franklin, OH, and James Weldon
Quillen Sr., age 59, 523 Sunnybrook Drive, Franklin, OH, for
menacing and transported them to the Washington County Jail.
On 27 Jun 04 Deputy Sheriff Stackpole investigated
a domestic dispute reported by Althea Shumar, age 50, 285 Whealdon,
Drive, Cutler. Mrs. Shumar stated her husband Ralph, age 38,
became angry while she was talking on the phone and physically
threw her out of the house, causing bruising to her right bicep.
Determining Mrs. Shumar was in fear for her safety, Deputy Stackpole
arrested Mr. Shumar for domestic violence and transported him
to the Washington County Jail.
On 27 Jun 04 Jody L. Wright, age 24, 1440 Reynolds
Run Road, Newport, reported her former live-in boyfriend took
their two children, of whom she has custody, and would not return
them. The father later returned the children to their mother
(200).=
On 27 Jun 04 Melissa McGrew, age 24, 416 Franklin
Street, Marietta reported her father Dale McGrew, age 59, 9322
State Route 550, Vincent, who was fixing her van, took the vehicle
and drove it to Marietta without her permission. Consequently,
Deputy Sheriff Mankins requested a summons for Mr. McGrew for
the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
On 27 Jun 04 Sgt. Huffer and Deputy Sheriff Evans
were dispatched to 25 Wildwood Road, Coolville, in response
to a domestic dispute. Lisa K. Simers, age 40, stated her husband
William, age 44, had been drinking and making suicidal comments.
An argument ensued and escalated to a point where Mr. Simers
jabbed his finger in his wife’s face. Mrs. Simer’s
fifteen-year-old son attempted to quell the altercation but
was slapped in the back of the neck by his stepfather. As a
result of their investigation Deputy Evans arrested Mr. Simers
for two counts of domestic violence and transported him to the
Washington County Jail where he requested Mr. Simers remain
without bond pending his initial court appearance.

Coolville, for two counts of domestic violence, both misdemeanors.
Simers was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Evans
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Jun 04 at
2:00 am.
Ralph C. Shumar Jr., age 38, 285 Whealdon Road,
Cutler, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Shumar was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 27 Jun 04 at 9:55 am.
Michael Anthony Henry, age 19, Econo Lodge Room
141, Franklin, OH, for menacing, a misdemeanor. Henry was arrested
at the catfish pond by Deputy Sheriff Norman and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 27 Jun 04 at 11:20 am.
Curtis Scott Nickell, age 19, 7577 Shartz Road,
Springboro, OH, for menacing, a misdemeanor. Nickell was arrested
at the catfish pond by Deputy Sheriff Norman and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 27 Jun 04 at 11:20 am.
James Weldon Quillen III, age 19, 523 Sunnybrook
Drive, Franklin, OH, for menacing, a misdemeanor. Quillen was
arrested at the catfish pond by Deputy Sheriff Norman and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 27 Jun 04 at 11:20 am.
James Weldon Quillen Sr., age 59, 523 Sunnybrook
Drive, Franklin, OH, for menacing, a misdemeanor. Quillen was
arrested at the catfish pond by Deputy Sheriff Norman and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 27 Jun 04 at 11:20 am.
Tonya Renee Wynn, age 31, 843 Greene Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor. Wynn
was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Jenkins and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Jun 04 at 8:35
pm.
Martin Wendell Ramage, age 64, 15910 State Route
821, Elba, OH, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Ramage
was arrested in Elba by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 27 Jun 04 at 10:50 pm.
