On 26 Jun 04 Ben Bohl, age 89, 307 Strecker Lane, Marietta, reported his mailbox, shaped like a John Deere tractor, was damaged between Friday morning and Saturday morning. This case remains under investigation (586).

On 26 Jun 04 Deputy Sheriff Mankins initiated a traffic stop on State Route 7 near the B & J Carryout after observing the vehicle he was following travel left of the centerline. In speaking with the driver, David R. Brookover, age 25, 38275 State Route 7 Apt. 1, Newport, Deputy Mankins noticed an odor of alcohol. Mr. Brookover admitted consuming several beers earlier in the evening and performed poorly on subsequent field sobriety tests. Mr. Brookover was arrested for OVI and operating with an expired license and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 26 Jun 04 Janelle L. Chidester, age 33, 1792 Green Hill Road, Marietta, reported several items belonging to her ex-live-in boyfriend were stolen between 10 am and 8:30 pm that day. This incident remains under investigation (602).

On 26 Jun 04 Deputy Sheriff Jenkins began an investigation into the death of a seventy-seven year old Vincent man. The death appears to be due to natural causes, no foul play is suspected.

On 26 Jun 04 Phillip Wiggers, age 39, 682 Eyerman Road, Belpre, reported on several occasions his neighbor’s livestock have trespassed onto his property. This incident remains under investigation (1090).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Kevin Michael Caplinger, age 43, 736 Greene Street Apt. 10, Marietta, for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. Caplinger was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by Patrolman Titus of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jun 04 at 1:55 am.

Dwayne Edward Brooks, age 19, 1412 Lockport Lane, Parkersburg, for fishing without a license, a misdemeanor. Brooks was arrested in Warren Township by Officer Lane of the Department of Natural Resources and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jun 04 at 2:30 am.

Phillip Harvey Wise, age 21, 917 Fourth Avenue, Parkersburg, for fishing without a license and failure to appear, both misdemeanors. Wise was arrested in Warren Township by Officer Lane of the Department of Natural Resources and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jun 04 at 2:30 am.

Matthew Carter Carlisle, age 32, 728 Fifth Street, Marietta, for being in physical control of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Carlisle was arrested on State Route 60 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jun 04 at 4:00 am.

David Roy Brookover Jr., age 25, 38275 State Route 7 Apt. 1, Newport, for .17 breath OVI, for operating with an expired license and failure to appear, all misdemeanors. Brookover was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jun 04 at 4:30 am.

Glen Edward Church, age 41, 704 Elm Street Apt. 11, Belpre, for failure to cease and desist, a misdemeanor. Church was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Sams of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jun 04 at 5:20 pm.

Kristina Sue Waterman, age 24, 108 ½ Sacra Via, Marietta, for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Waterman was arrested on Second Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jun 04 at 9:55 pm.
