MARIJUANA ORGANIZATION
INVESTIGATION
During June 2004 the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office Narcotic’s Unit began an investigation into the
distribution of large quantities of marijuana in the Marietta
area from a source in Columbus, OH.
In consequence to intelligence gained, search
warrants were executed in Marietta at the residence of Aaron
Sarver, age 18, 210 Wooster Street, Marietta and Robert Boyce,
age 48, 300 Phillips Street. Small amounts of marijuana, drug
paraphernalia, and other items indicating trafficking were obtained
at Mr. Sarver’s residence resulting in the arrest of Mr.
Sarver for trafficking in drugs. Over 14 pounds of marijuana,
drug paraphernalia and items indicating trafficking were also
seized from the home of Mr. Boyce.
On June 21 the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office Narcotic’s Unit assisted the Muskingum County Sheriff’s
Office and Columbus City Police Department Narcotics Units in
the arrest and seizure of a vehicle owned by Richard Parker,
aka Ricky, age 44, 463 Alden Avenue, Columbus, OH. Parker was
arrested and is being held in the Muskingum County Jail after
he was observed selling 13 pounds of marijuana near Red Lobster
in Zanesville.
A related search warrant was also executed
by the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force at the residence of
Bernard Richards, 212 Second Street, Williamstown, WV. As a
result of the search, the Task Forced seized twenty-two pounds
of marijuana, $15,000 in cash, and two vehicles. Also assisting
in this search were the Williamstown Police Department the Parkersburg
Police Department, whose K-9 unit was responsible for the discovery
of 15 pounds of marijuana hidden in an outbuilding at the residence.
On 21 Jun 04 an employee of the Washington County
Home, 845 County House Lane, Marietta, reported Clint R. Carpenter,
age 21, left the home without permission. Mr. Carpenter was
later located sleeping in an outbuilding at his mother’s
residence and returned to the County Home (1184) (1091).
On 21 Jun 04 an employee of Napoli’s Pizza,
6965 State Route 339, Barlow, reported an unknown suspect(s)
shot paintballs at the business, splattering ten shots on the
business’ window. This case remains under investigation
(1203).
On 21 Jun 04 a Vincent resident reported for the
past two weeks a neighbor has repeatedly exposed himself. This
case remains under investigation (1203).
On 21 Jun 04 Teresa Dye, age 39, 2231 McGill Road,
Belpre, reported her mailbox and post were stolen between 16
and 17 Jun. This case remains under investigation (597).
On 21 Jun 04 Donald L. Spung, age 57, 1881 Watertown
Road, Waterford, reported between 12 and 18 Jun, an unknown
suspect(s) stole a self-propelled Yard Machine lawn mower belonging
to the Waterford United Methodist Church at 15759 Waterford
Road in Waterford. This case remains under investigation (597).
On 21 Jun 04 William Brannan, age 19, 836 Pike
Street Apt. 3, Marietta, reported a neighbor brandished a gun
toward him. Upon interrogation Mr. Brannan recanted his claim
stating he fabricated the claim because he was angry with the
alleged suspect. A summons for falsification has been requested
for Mr. Brannan (500).
On 21 Jun 04 Tamara Lang, age 41, 2915 Plum Run
Road, Waterford, reported after paying a local business $14,000
to begin construction on a log home in August of 2003, the business
has failed to complete the work. This case remains under investigation
(597).
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrant:
Venson E. Moore III, age 27, 319 Wall Avenue,
Cambridge, for burglary, on 17 Jun 04 did by force, stealth,
or deception, trespass in an occupied structure or in a separately
secured or separately occupied portion of an occupied structure,
when another person other than an accomplice of the offender
is present, with purpose to commit in the structure or in the
separately secured or separately occupied portion of the structure
any criminal offense.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
William Thomas Gilliam, age 40, 390 Bella Vista
Drive, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Gilliam was arrested in Marietta
by Patrolman Titus of the Marietta City Police Department and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jun 04 at 2:42
am.
Robert Lee Bush, age 46, 410 Main Street Apt.
D, Waterford, for failure to confine or restrain a dog, a misdemeanor.
Bush turned himself in to Lt. Ketelsen of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 21 Jun 04 at 9:10 am.
Jamie Russell Jones, age 26, Caldwell, for breaking
and entering and theft, both felonies. Jones was picked up at
the Noble County Correctional Facility in Caldwell by Deputy
Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 21 Jun 04 at 9:55 am.
