On 11 Jun 04 Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched
to 409 Ingram Road, Newport, after one of the home’s resident’s
struggled to a neighbor’s house to call for help. The
neighbor stated when she opened the door she recognized her
neighbor Tracy McConnell, age 38, standing there, bleeding from
the abdomen. When the neighbor inquired what happened, Mr. McConnell
replied his live-in girlfriend Brenda Ward, age 48, stabbed
him. As Mr. McConnell was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital,
Detectives Mirandized Ms. Ward and conducted an interview. Ms.
Ward gave three accounts with substantial variations in each
but did note that within the past two weeks she did tell Mr.
McConnell “if you ever lay another hand on me I’ll
kill you.” Consequently Ms. Ward was arrested for felonious
assault violence and transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 11 Jun 04 Ed Potter, age 62, 78 Hamrick Drive,
Little Hocking, reported three sections of a drain culvert were
stolen from his property on Moody Ridge Road in Vincent the
previous evening. This case remains under investigation (586).
On 11 Jun 04 the mother of a thirteen year old
Fleming resident reported her daughter’s step-mother threatened
her bodily harm as they were driving on State Route 7 near Newport.
This case remains under investigation (200).
On 11 Jun 04, acting on an anonymous tip, Lt.
Wilson began patrolling State Route 339 in Barlow in search
of a vehicle operating erratically. Lt. Wilson located the vehicle
on US 50 and initiated a traffic stop after observing the vehicle
travel to the right of the white edge line. Observing a bottle
of whiskey on the floor of the vehicle, Lt. Wilson asked Creed
G. Hicks, age 67, 1614 Hill Street, Belpre, to exit the vehicle
and perform field sobriety tests. Mr. Hicks admitted consuming
alcohol and could not follow instructions to complete the tests.
Based on his observations Lt. Wilson arrested Mr. Hicks for
OVI and driving outside the marked lanes of travel and transported
to the Washington County Jail.
On 11 Jun 04 Deputy Sheriff McLeish issued a citation
to Marcena Steward, age 41, 1913 Wingett Run Road, Wingett Run,
for failing to stop at a stop sign. Deputy McLeish stopped Ms.
Steward on County Road 333 near State Route 26 in Newport Township.
On 11 Jun 04 Lt. Wilson issued a citation to James
L. Antill, age 20, 190 Main Street, Lowell, for failure to yield
at a stop sign after Mr. Antill pulled out in front of Lt. Wilson,
nearly causing a collision. Lt. Wilson stopped Mr. Antill on
State Route 7 near County Road 10 in Warren Township.
On 11 Jun 04 Eric C. Dunn, age 43, 5315 State
Route 26, Marietta, reported his wife left their home and he
did not know her whereabouts. The woman was later located (296).
On 11 Jun 04 Alisha J. Kilmer, age 33, Marietta,
reported her purse and contents were stolen from her vehicle
while she was inside Hasty Shopper at 4796 State Route 60 in
Marietta. This case remains under investigation (1203).
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrant:
John D. Nicholas, age 40, 109 Washington Street,
Marietta, for failing to appear to serve thirty days in jail
on 3 Jun 04.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Andrew Michael Russell, age 18, Marietta, for
felony charges of receiving stolen property and possession of
criminal tools and misdemeanor charges of receiving stolen property
and theft. Russell was arrested in the vicinity of Sixth and
Tupper Streets in Marietta by Patrolman Hickey of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 11 Jun 04 at 6:30 am.
Creed Glenn Hicks, age 67, 614 Hill Street, Belpre,
for OVI and driving outside the marked lanes of travel, both
misdemeanors. Hicks was arrested on State Route 7 by Lt. Wilson
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 11 Jun 04 at 4:00 pm.
