On 8 May 04 Lt. Huffer and Sgt. Hiatt were dispatched
to the home of Daniel E. Freeland, age 26, 101 Green Street
Apt. 4, Newport, to interdict a domestic dispute. Through an
investigation the Deputies learned after Mr. Freeman made derogatory
comments toward his live-in girlfriend’s family, a small
quarrel ensued and his live-in girlfriend Kimberly Holdren,
age 22, struck him above the eye with a coffee cup. As a result,
Ms. Holdren was arrested for domestic violence and transported
to the Washington County Jail where she was released on a personal
recognizance bond.
On 8 Jun 04 Deputy Sheriff Brockmeier initiated
a traffic stop on State Route 7 near Mile Run Road after observing
a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lane at approximately
5 mph. Having the vehicle pull off the proper side of the road
Deputy Brockmeier made contact with the driver and immediately
noticed a strong odor of alcohol. While being questioned Mario
Hernandez, age 27, 33 Pahlhurst Plaza, Parkersburg, submitted
to field sobriety tests, on which he performed poorly, and admitted
he did not have a driver’s license as well as possessing
a small quantity of marijuana. A passenger in the vehicle, Jorge
Munoz, age 47, 612 Ninth Street, Marietta, stated he was highly
intoxicated and could not recollect any information to afford
him safe passage home. For his safety, Deputy Brockmeier arrested
Mr. Munoz for disorderly conduct by intoxication and transported
him to the Washington County Jail. Mr. Hernandez was also arrested
for OVI, operating without a license and possession of marijuana
and transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 8 Jun 04 the principal of Putnam Elementary
School, 598 Masonic Park Road, Marietta, reported between
Monday night and Tuesday morning, an unknown suspect(s) damaged
twenty wooden fence posts attached to a walkway behind the
school. This case remains under investigation (586).
On 8 Jun 04 Deputy Sheriff Eddy investigated
a fight between two inmates in the Washington County Jail.
Deputy Eddy found that Shane Hardie, age 28, became angry
because he believed, contradictory to witness statements,
that Pat Worstell, age 19, flicked cigarette ashes in his
hair. Mr. Hardie flew into a fit of rage, pushed Mr. Worstell
off a bench and punched him in the face. As a result, Deputy
Eddy served Mr. Hardie with a charge of assault.
On 8 Jun 04 a twelve year old Newport Elementary
School student reported his Huffy Kawasaki BMX bike was stolen
from outside the school between 10:30 and 11:30 pm the previous
evening. This case remains under investigation (500).
On 8 Jun 04 Robert Byers, age 49, 565 Indian
Run Road, Marietta, reported two Dewalt cordless drills, a
pressure washer, a Bosch drill and a saws-all were stolen
from the basement of Byer’s Exxon at 26960 State Route
7, Marietta, between 3 and 7 Jun 04. This case remains under
investigation (500).
On 8 Jun 04 Shirley Scott, age 36, 784 Long
Eddy Road, New Matamoras, reported after leaving her purse
in a shopping cart at IGA in Newport, she has been unable
to find her purse and its contents. This case remains under
investigation (500).
On 8 Jun 04 Lt. Wilson issued citations to:
Stanley E. Bowers, age 25, 339 Hocking Road,
Little Hocking, for traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph zone on
State Route 555 near Township Road 189 in Dunham Township.
James W. Brown Jr., age 20, 9870 Alderman Road, Millfield,
OH, for traveling 83 mph in a 60 mph zone on US 50 near
Township Road 97 in Belpre Township.
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrants:
Otis S. Ritchie, age 38, 364 Mary Street Apt.
2, Marion, OH, for contempt for failing to appear at a court
ordered hearing on an order to show cause.
Justin A. Hall, age 21, 220 Pennsylvania Avenue,
Marietta, for failure to appear at an arraignment on charges
of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Mario Hernandez, age 27, 33 Pahlhurst Plaza, Parkersburg,
for .17 breath OVI, operating without a license and possession
of drugs, all misdemeanors. Hernandez was arrested on State
Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Brockmeier and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 8 Jun 04 at 1:35 am.
Jorge Portillo Munoz, age 47, 612 Ninth Street,
Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor.
Munoz was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Brockmeier
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jun 04 at
1:35 am.
Kimberly Renee Holdren, age 22, PO Box 132 Greene
Street, Newport, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Holdren
was arrested at her residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 8 Jun 04 at 5:25 am.
Darlene Kay Mahaffey, age 44, 1565 State Route
39, New Philadelphia, OH, for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor.
Mahaffey was picked in Tuscarawas County by Deputy Sheriff Coppernoll
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jun 04 at
11:15 am.
Paul Ira Longanecker, age 23, 80 Hannah Place,
Belpre, for theft, a misdemeanor. Longanecker was arrested in
Marietta by Patrolman Linscott of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jun 04 at
3:50 pm.
David C. MacClymont Jr., age 36, 307 Third Street,
Lowell, for speeding, failure to reinstate his operator’s
license, disorderly conduct by intoxication and for possession
of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. MacClymont was arrested
on State Route 60 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jun 04 at 9:50 pm.
David Wayne Evans, age 28, 16055 State Route 821,
Macksburg, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony.
Evans was picked at the Guernsey County Jail by Deputy Sheriff
O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 8 Jun 04 at 10:40 pm.
