On 29 May 04 Detective Warden issued a minor misdemeanor
citation to Paul Mayle Jr., age 29, 4905 Gillespie Lane, Stockport,
for possessing an open container of alcohol in a public place.
Mr. Mayle was a passenger in a vehicle Detective Warden stopped
on State Route 555 in Wesley Township.
On 29 May 04 Lt. Wilson initiated a traffic stop
on Gilman Street, just off the Putnam Street Bridge after he
observed the vehicle he was following swerving in his lane of
travel and failed to stop at a red light. When stopped, Gary
A. Hagar, age 61, 1328 Greene Street, Marietta, immediately
exited his vehicle and appeared unsteady on his feet. Lt. Wilson
conducted a horizontal gaze nystagmus test, on which Mr. Hagar
performed poorly. Based on his observations, Lt. Wilson arrested
Mr. Hagar for second offense OVI, operating without a license,
failure to register and for failing to stop at a red light and
transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 29 May 04 Lt. Wilson issued a citation to Ian
N. Friedman, age 33, 700 West St. Clair Street, Cleveland, OH,
for traveling 82 mph in a 65 mph zone. Lt. Wilson stopped Mr.
Friedman on Interstate 77 near mile marker 14 in Salem Township.
On 29 May 04 William Brannan, age 19, 836 Pike
Street Apt. 3, Marietta, reported his Playstation 2 and twenty
CDs were stolen while he was away from his home between midnight
and 8 am that morning. Succeeding an investigation, Deputy Sheriff
Norman requested a summons for Jason H. Malone, age 26, 840
Pike Street Apt. 34, Marietta, for theft.
On 29 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Jenkins initiated
a traffic stop on State Route 676 that resulted in the confiscation
of a marijuana pipe. This case remains under investigation.
On 29 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Jenkins initiated
a traffic stop on US 50 near Farson Street in Belpre after he
observed a vehicle travel outside the white edge line. As he
spoke with the driver, Marshall C. Satterfield, age 47, 407
Blue Knob Road, Vincent, Deputy Jenkins noticed an odor of alcohol
and requested Mr. Satterfield submit to field sobriety tests,
on which he performed poorly. Mr. Satterfield was issued a citation
for traveling outside the marked lanes of travel, arrested for
OVI and transported to the Washington County Jail where he was
released on a personal recognizance bond.
On 29 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Norman was dispatched
to 29875 State Route 7, Marietta, to intervene a dispute between
neighbors. Ernestine Frye, age 66, 29875 State Route 7, Marietta,
stated she and her neighbor Shirley Thompson, age 44, 29875
State Route 7, Marietta, were involved in an argument over a
weedeater when Ms. Thompson grabbed the glasses of her face
and threw them in a near by stream. Ms. Thompson then raised
the weedeater in a striking manner and Ms. Frye grabbed Ms.
Thompson’s hair to thwart an attack. As a result of his
investigation Deputy Norman issued Ms. Thompson a citation for
disorderly conduct by fighting.
On 29 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Gherke was dispatched
to 115 Deer Haven Street, in response to a domestic dispute.
Jolene DeLong, age 29, stated when she confronted her husband
Joseph Myers, age 27, about his drinking he became upset and
grabbed her by the hair. Ms. DeLong’s young son attempted
to quell the situation but Mr. Myers shoved him forcefully into
a kitchen cabinet. As she attempted to flee with her son Mr.
Myers again grabbed Ms. DeLong by the hair, pulling some out.
By the time Deputy Gherke arrived Mr. Myers was elsewhere, therefore
Deputy Gherke requested a warrant for the arrest of Mr. Myers
for two counts of domestic violence.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Marshall C. Satterfield, age 47, 407 Knob Drive,
Vincent, for .08 breath OVI and driving outside the marked lanes
of travel, both misdemeanors. Marshall was arrested on US 50
by Deputy Sheriff Jenkins and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 May 04 at 2:15 am.
Jon Anthony Cox, age 19, 120 Washington Square,
Williamstown, for .08 breath OVI, failure to reinstate his operator’s
license and for violating the terms of his probation, all misdemeanors.
Cox was arrested on Putnam Street by Patrolman Huffman of the
Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 May 04 at 4:35 am.
Gary Allen Hagar, age 61, 1825 Greene Street,
Marietta, for OVI, no operator’s license, failure to register
and failure to obey the right of way, all misdemeanors. Hagar
was arrested on Gilman Street by Lt. Wilson of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 May 04 at 8:40 pm.
