On 28 May 04 Deputy Sheriff
Mankins initiated a traffic stop on Township Road 15 in Belpre
and in the course
of an investigation garnered intelligence related to past crimes
committed by the vehicle’s driver. This case remains
under investigation.
On 28 May 04 an individual at Warren High School
reported the theft of calculators from the school. The stolen
items were found in the suspect’s possession. This case
remains under investigation (1203).
On 28 May 04 Lt. Wilson issued a citation to Michael
R. Petruziello, age 19, 6522 Aberdeen Lane, Medina, OH, for
traveling 76 mph in a 35 mph zone. Lt. Wilson stopped Mr. Petruziello
on State Route 7 near County Road 10 in Warren Township.
On 28 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Eddy issued a citation
to Matthew C. Palmer, age 24, 116 Del Ray Drive, Marietta, for
failure to register. Deputy Eddy observed Mr. Palmer at mile
marker one on Coal Run Road operating a motorcycle without a
registration.
On 28 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Jenkins initiated
a traffic stop near mile marker nine on State Route 339 after
observing the vehicle travel outside the white edge line. Noticing
an alcohol while speaking with the driver, Deputy Jenkins requested
John R. Worstell, age 36, 1910 Robinson Hill, Road, Marietta,
submit to field sobriety tests. Subsequent to performing poorly
on the tests Mr. Worstell was issued a citation for traveling
outside the marked lanes of travel, arrested for OVI and transported
to the Washington County Jail where he was released on a personal
recognizance bond.
On 28 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Gherke investigated
a two vehicle collision on Green Street near State Route 7 in
Newport. Following a haircut, Eric C. Edgar, age 19, 46091 State
Route 7, New Matamoras, was backing across Green Street from
the parking lot of the Newport Wash Tub when he struck the driver’s
side door of a Pontiac Grand Prix owned by Tina Farnsworth,
Route 1 Kinderhook, Newport, with the rear bumper of his 1973
Plymouth Satellite. Damage to both vehicles was minor and Deputy
Gherke issued Mr. Edgar a citation for improper backing.
On 28 May 04 Brenda Cain, age 58, 359 Turkey Hollow
Road, Cutler, reported as she and her husband Larry, age 61,
drove along their paper route on State Route 555, Mr. Cain began
to drive erratically and traveled left to center several times.
Continuing to drive in an incalculable manner, Mr. Cain entered
a blind curve on the wrong side of the road and threatened to
harm her if she said anything. Concluding Mrs. Cain believed
her husband would cause imminent harm, Deputy Sheriff Evans
arrested Mr. Cain for domestic violence and transported him
to the Washington County Jail where he is being held without
bond.
On 28 May 04 an employee of Auto Maxx, 1314 Pike
Street, Marietta, reported an unknown suspect(s) forcibly entered
the business the previous evening and stole a white 2001 Ford
F-350 extended cab, a book of vehicle titles as well as a can
containing keys to all the vehicles on the car lot. This case
remains under investigation (296).
On 28 May 04 a sixty-seven year old Vincent resident
reported being threatened by a man who attempted to sell him
a product over the phone. This case remains under investigation
(1091).
On 28 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Eddy issued a citation
to Adam C. Ruble, age 18, 4000 State Route 530, Lowell, for
improper starting and backing. Deputy Eddy issued the citation
after observing Mr. Ruble smoking his tires and leaving a twenty
foot black mark on the asphalt while exiting from Fort Frye
High School onto State Route 60 in Beverly.

Office received the following warrants:
Richard D. Gill, age 32, 4310 Dalzell Road, Whipple,
for violating the terms of his probation by failing to report
for scheduled meetings, for failing to attend counseling and
for failing to make fine payments as ordered by the court.
Jonathan L. Deaton, age 22, 112 Hillsboro Drive,
Lot 23, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation by
failing to report for a scheduled meeting and for failing to
respond to written notices left at his home.
Thomas G. Goeber, age 45, 1505 Williams Circle,
Parma, OH, for unlawfully attempting to take a turkey on or
over a baited area.
Kelly L. Johnson, age 19, 410 Fearing Street,
Marietta, for two counts of breach of recognizance for failing
to appear for arraignments on 24 May 04, for underage consumption
of alcohol and for disorderly conduct on 15 May 04.
Timothy Mackey, age 23, 1109 Quincy Street, Parkersburg,
for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $162.
Valerie D. Mankins, age 44, 3719 Blue Knob Road
Apt. 2, Marietta, for disorderly conduct on 30 Apr 04.
Jeffrey A. Viars, age 47, 149 Sun Valley Drive,
Gallipolis, OH, for passing a bad check in the amount of $90
in November of 2001.
Frankie Estep, age 39, Rural Route 2 Box 2811,
Elizabeth, WV, for violating the terms of his probation by failing
to report for scheduled meetings and for failing to report new
charges as ordered by the court.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Patrick Dean Worstell, age 19, 320 Browns Road,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Worstell turned himself in to Detective Seevers of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 28 May 04 at 3:36 pm.
Larry James Cain, age 61, 416 12th Street, Parkersburg,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Cain was arrested in Belpre
by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 28 May 04 at 7:20 pm.
John Robert Worstell, age 36, 1910 Robinson Hill
Road, Marietta, for .17 breath OVI and driving outside the marked
lanes of travel, both misdemeanors. Worstell was arrested on
State Route 339 by Deputy Sheriff Jenkins and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 28 May 04 at 9:30 pm.
Sarah Ann Martin, age 24, 1240 Main Street, Stockport,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
a misdemeanor. Martin was arrested in Dale by Deputy Sheriff
Malone and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 May
04 at 11:25 pm.
