On 22 May 04 Betty Myers, age 38, 1505 Brooks
Road, Marietta, reported finding what appeared to be bullet
holes in a telephone box near her home. This case remains under
investigation (296).
On 22 May 04 Joyce A. Hollingsworth, age 50, 2255
Blue Knob Road, Marietta, reported while she stayed overnight
with a friend, an unknown suspect(s) entered her locked home
and stole three business suits, some costume jewelry and a Sony
camcorder. This case remains under investigation (1203).
On 22 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Jenkins initiated
a traffic stop on County Road 4 near milepost one after observing
a vehicle traveling faster than the 45 mph speed limit. Upon
making contact with the driver, Nathan C Kephart, age 24, 101
Oak Grove Lane, Marietta, Deputy Jenkins noticed an odor of
alcohol and administered a series of field sobriety tests, on
which Mr. Kephart performed poorly. Accordingly, Mr. Kephart
was issued a citation for speeding, arrested for OVI and transported
to the Washington County Jail where he was released on a personal
recognizance bond.
On 22 May 04 Evelyn L. Worstell, age 64, 320 Browns
Road, Marietta, reported her grandson Patrick, age 20, , in
violation of a protection order, contacted her because he needed
a place to stay. Feeling sorry for him, Ms. Worstell allowed
her grandson to stay until he came in one night bleeding from
a fight and became abusive toward her. Ms. Worstell notified
the Sheriff’s Office and Mr. Worstell was arrested and
transported to the Washington County Jail (684).
On 22 May 04 Michelle Casto, age 31, 1424 Barth
Road, Belpre, reported after being away from home the previous
evening, she arrived at her residence to find her ex-boyfriend
Shane M. Hardie, age 28, 301 Buckeye Avenue, Marietta, inside
her home. Belligerently, Mr. Hardie began questioning the whereabouts
of Ms. Casto and calling her names. As she fled to her car Mr.
Hardie began punching Ms. Casto as she cried for help. As she
escaped in her vehicle, Mr. Hardie damaged controls on the steering
column of Ms. Casto’s vehicle. Unable to locate the suspect
that evening, Deputy Sheriff Stackpole requested a warrant for
Mr. Hardie on the charges of domestic violence, burglary and
criminal damaging.
On 22 May 04 Patricia Farnsworth, age 54, 15876
State Route 550, Fleming, reported several articles of jewelry
were stolen from her residence since last Christmas. This case
remains under investigation (1090).
On 22 May 04 Florence Williams, age 63, 313 Fourth
Street, Lowell, reported her son Anthony, age 30, came home
inebriated and when asked questions became combative, threw
the phone and broke the glass of a door. He then twisted his
mother’s wrist causing her to fall to the floor. Mr. Williams
was arrested for domestic violence and while in transit to the
Washington County Jail, escaped his handcuffs and threw them
out the window resulting in additional charges of theft and
littering (296).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jimmy Ray Waterman, age 22, 1045 Sand Hill Road
Lot 12, Reno, for a misdemeanor charge of violating the terms
of his probation. Waterman was arrested at Kroger’s in
Marietta by Patrolman Kampmeier of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
22 May 04 at 1:20 am.
Nathan Christopher Kephart, age 24, 101 Oak Grove
Lane, Marietta, for misdemeanor charges of .08 breath OVI and
speeding. Kephart was arrested on Waterford Road by Deputy Sheriff
Jenkins and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22
May 04 at 3:30 am.
Patrick Dean Worstell, age 19, 320 Browns Road,
Marietta, for a misdemeanor charge of violating a protection
order. Worstell was arrested in Marietta by Sgt. Jobes of Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 22 May 04 at 10:20 am.
Anthony Cameron Williams, age 30, 313 Fourth Street,
Lowell, for misdemeanor charges of domestic violence, theft
and littering. Williams was arrested at his residence by Deputy
Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 22 May 04 at 11:54 am.
Christopher Gene Hicks, age 26, 925 Julianna Street,
Parkersburg, for misdemeanor charges of driving under suspension,
speeding, operating without a license and for failing to obey
a traffic control device. Hicks was arrested in Belpre by the
Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 22 May 04 at 2:45 pm.
Tammy Lynn Murphy, age 33, 53560 State Route 821,
Reedsville, OH, for misdemeanor charges of .08 breath OVI and
driving outside the marked lanes of travel. Murphy was arrested
on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 22 May 04 at 10:20 pm.
Patrick Deon Thomas, age 33, 425 Unionville Road,
McConnellsville, for a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
Thomas was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by Patrolman
Arbaugh of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 22 May 04 at 10:30 pm.
