CONSUMER ADVISORY
The Sheriff’s Office has received reports
from Washington County residents concerning being approached
by an individual representing a construction company purporting
the ability of the business to asphalt the resident’s
driveway at a discount price. Subsequent to completing part
of the work the suspect presented a bill for four times the
estimated cost, which the victims paid, then left the scene
and cashed the check before it could be canceled. The work detail,
allegedly called Miller Construction, consisted of eight workers
and a dump truck. The dump truck is partially red, with a red
stripe on a blue and white background and has a West Virginia
license plate. One of the workers is five foot four inches tall
with a partial beard and long hair. If any citizen has experienced
a similar predicament please contact the Sheriff’s Office
immediately at 376-7070 or via an anonymous
tip form.
On 20 May 04 Dale Fletcher Jr., age 50, 128 Buell
Circle, Marietta, reported a wood splitter he borrowed from
a neighbor was stolen from a storage building behind Marietta
Polaris in Reno. This case remains under investigation (1091).
On 20 May 04 a forty-four year old Marietta woman
reported she has been receiving harassing phone calls for the
past year. This case remains under investigation (232).
On 20 May 04 a twenty-seven year old Belpre resident
reported receiving several harassing phone calls from her soon
to be ex-husband. This case remains under investigation (698).
On 20 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Kapple was dispatched
to Masons General Store in Belpre after a witness reported seeing
a man passed out on the property. Deputy Kapple found Ronald
W. Milam, age 49, 29590 Sawyers Run Road, Little Hocking, on
the east side of the building propped up on a railroad tie and
reeking of alcohol. Mr. Milam was arrested for disorderly conduct
by intoxication and transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 20 May 04 an administrator at Warren High School
reported catching a seventeen year old student with four marijuana
pipes in her possession and a fifteen year old with a pipe containing
marijuana in his possession. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff Evans
requested summonses for the appearance of the students in Juvenile
Court.
On 20 May 04 the principal of Frontier High School
reported several male suspects vandalized the boy’s locker
room the previous afternoon. This case remains under investigation
(1091).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Ronald Wayne Milam, age 49, 29590 Sawyers Run
Road, Little Hocking, for disorderly conduct by intoxication,
a misdemeanor. Milam was arrested on State Route 124 by Deputy
Sheriff Kapple and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 20 May 04 at 4:25 pm.
Roberto Ramirez, age 32, Belpre, for disorderly
conduct, a misdemeanor. Ramirez was arrested on Front Street
in Marietta by Patrolman Hupp of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 May 04 at
7:00 pm.
Aaron John Sarver, age 18, 300 Phillips Street,
Marietta, for violating a protection order, a misdemeanor. Sarver
was arrested on Pike Street in Marietta by Patrolman Hilverding
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 20 May 04 at 10:40 pm.
