On 3 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Kapple investigated
a two vehicle collision in the parking lot of the Silver Moon
Diner on State Route 339 in Barlow. Emila J. Gayheart, age 27,
1610 Washington Boulevard, Belpre, was southbound on State Route
339 in her Dodge Omni when she began to slow to turn onto Warrior
Drive. Realizing her brakes were not functioning, Ms. Gayheart
turned into the parking lot of the Silver Moon Diner and came
to a stop after striking the rear of a parked Chevy S-10 owned
by Timothy E. Jennings, 1218 Oak Hill Road, Cutler. A subsequent
check on the status of Ms. Gayheart’s license, Deputy
Kapple issued her citations for driving under a drug abuse suspension
and for driving under child support suspension. Both vehicles
sustained light damage and no injuries were reported.
On 3 May 04 Lt. Canavan issued a citation to Celena
A. Hardie, age 24, Bear Run Road, Newport, for operating without
a license. Lt. Canavan assisted Ms. Hardie with another matter
when a check of her record concluded she only had a learner’s
permit. Ms. Hardie was issued the citation on State Route 7
near Township Road 279 in Warren Township.
On 3 May 04 Sgt. Jobes and Deputy Sheriff Stackpole
were dispatched to 125 Rummer Road, Marietta, after Mandy Biehl,
age 28, reported being involved in a domestic dispute with her
husband Allen, age 32. Prior to their arrival the Deputies learned
that under a protection order, Mr. Biehl was forbidden from
being at the marital home. As a result, Mr. Biehl was arrested
for violating a protection order and transported to the Washington
County Jail.
On 3 May 04 the mother of a seventeen year old
Marietta High School student reported her daughter refuses to
attend school, initiates arguments and stays out late at night
despite a 12:00 am curfew. Accordingly, Deputy Sheriff Simmons
requested a summons for the teenager to appear in Juvenile Court
for being unruly.
On 3 May 04 a Lowell resident reported her thirty
year old friend ingested a large dose of sleeping pills in an
attempt to harm herself. The woman was transported to Marietta
Memorial Hospital for treatment and evaluation (1091).
On 3 May 04 an employee of Summer Rubber Company,
100 Tennis Center Drive, Marietta, reported the steel rear door
of the business was damaged in an apparent attempt to gain entry
into the building. This case remains under investigation (1184).
On 3 May 04 Deputy Sheriff Spencer initiated a
traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Fifth and Montgomery
Streets in Marietta for having a fictitious registration. A
computer check of the driver, David A. Lincoln, age 20, 209
Elm Street, Marietta, indicated Mr. Lincoln was driving under
a suspended license and was issued a citation for the aforementioned
offenses.
On 3 May 04 a Cutler resident reported since gaining
custody of her fifteen year old daughter in November of last
year, her daughter is continually truant from school and refuses
to obey house rules. As a result, Deputy Sheriff Evans requested
a summons for the teenager to appear in Juvenile Court for being
unruly.

Office received the following warrants:
Michael E. Duff, age 35, 644 East Street Apt.
4, Lorain, OH, for contempt for failing to appear at a court
ordered hearing on an order to show cause.
Dwight E. Blair, age 50, 532 Sellers Road, Little
Hocking, for littering for knowingly depositing litter or causing
it to be deposited, in a litter receptacle located on any public
property or on any private property not owned by him, as charged
by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole on 10 Apr 04.
David M. Ewing, age 20, 403 Woodbridge Road, Charleston,
WV, for underage consumption of alcohol on 16 Mar 04.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Allen Bernard Biehl, age 32, 125 Rummer Road,
Marietta, for violating a protection order, a misdemeanor. Biehl
was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 May 04 at 1:00
am.
Tommy Joe Moore, age 19, PO Box 138, Mason, WV,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Moore was arrested in
Meigs County by the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 May 04 at 3:10
am.
Baxter Lee Grimes, age 27, 817 Grandview Avenue,
New Matamoras, for escape, a felony. Grimes was arrested at
the Adult Probation Office by Lt. Ketelsen of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 3 May 04 at 12:45 pm.
Daniel Boone Grose Jr., age 29, 959 Grassy Road,
Lizemore, WV, for the use of deception to obtain a dangerous
drug, a felony. Grose was arrested on Matthew Street by Patrolman
Hively of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 3 May 04 at 3:15 pm.
Jason Wayne Ross, age 28, Hill Street, Coal Run,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Ross
was arrested on Wood Street by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 3 May 04 at 5:31 pm.
