On 30 Apr 04 Deputy Sheriff Kapple investigated a domestic disturbance at 3719 Blue Knob Road, Marietta. Through an investigation Deputy Kapple surmised a fourteen-year-old male was involved in a minor altercation with his forty four year old female neighbor, which resulted in both parties striking each other. Consequently, Deputy Kapple requested summonses for the two to appear in Juvenile and Municipal Court.

On 30 Apr 04 Deputy Sheriff Evans initiated a traffic stop on a northbound vehicle at mile post seven on State Route 60 after observing the vehicle swerving wildly in and out of his lane of travel. The driver, Jack J. Sloter, age 44, 4372 Dixon Ridge Road, Lowell, was visibly intoxicated and failed a series of field sobriety tests. Accordingly, Mr. Sloter was arrested for OVI and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 30 Apr 04 an employee of Central Locating Service, 4168 Fisher Road, Columbus, reported while locating underground telephone lines, he left a site momentarily and a $1,100 orange transmitter box was stolen. This case remains under investigation (1203).

On 30 Apr 04 Deputy Sheriff Evans was dispatched to a residence in Little Hocking after a resident’s wife reported her husband consumed a large dose of prescription medication. The man was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital by the Little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department for treatment and evaluation.

On 30 Apr 04 William Dorsey, age 39, 131 Nolan Circle, Marietta, reported a Sony digital camera was stolen from his unlocked vehicle on 18 Apr 04. This case remains under investigation (1291).

On 30 Apr 04 Michael Brookover, age 40, 15281 State Route 60, Lowell, reported after making several payments on a truck, in accordance with a verbal contract, the acquaintance sold the truck to another individual. An investigation by Deputy Sheriff Brown concluded Mr. Brookover lapsed in his payments and the truck was lawfully repossessed by its original owner.

On 30 Apr 04 Deputy Sheriffs McLeish, Eddy and Evans investigated a brawl that took place behind the Valley Inn on State Route 60 in Beverly. Tom Bohl, age 35, 1359B Derby Road, Waterford, stated the scuffle began when another bar patron initiated a fight with his brother. This incident remains under investigation.

On 30 Mar 04 a seventeen year old Warren High School student reported, while she was playing softball, cash was stolen from the wallet she left in the girls’ locker room. This case remains under investigation (602).

On 30 Apr 04 Patricia Haynes, age 54, 214 Haynes Road, Little Hocking, reported a bag of clothing and two folding chairs were stolen from her unlocked vehicle parked outside her residence between 9 pm on 29 Apr and 10 am on 30 Apr. This case remains under investigation (602).

On 30 Apr 04 Deputy Sheriff Eddy was dispatched to 710 Ferncliff Drive, Marietta, in response to a domestic violence complaint. Ruth Allen, age 45, 38 Town Hall Road, Marietta, stated she stopped at the aforementioned address she formerly shared with her estranged husband and asked him to use the restroom. Immediately her husband William, age 48, became combative and forbade her entrance by pushing her, on one occasion by her neck, and into vehicles in the driveway. Mr. Allen was arrested for domestic violence and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 30 Apr 04 a Corrections Officer at the Washington County Jail reported an inmate spit on him while he was performing a check on L Block. Witnesses confirmed the identity of the assailant and charges were filed against Henry T. Allen, age 26, 175 Chateau Hills, Parkersburg, for harassment by an inmate, a fifth degree felony.

On 30 Apr 04 Deputy Sheriff Kapple investigated a two vehicle collision at 13153 State Route 550 in Fleming. Carrie J. Knick, age 24, PO Box 11 State Route 550, Fleming, was backing out a driveway when her Chevy Cavalier struck the front fender and driver’s side door of a parked Chevy S-10 owned by Jeremy Hall Barker, 500 Whealdon Road, Cutler. Both vehicles sustained light damage.

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants and indictments:

Ryan A. Davis, age 21, 205 Putnam Street, Marietta, for a third degree felony charge of gross sexual imposition.

David A. Sayres, age 39, address unknown, for a fourth degree felony charge of breach of a recognizance bond.

William Summers, age 47, address unknown, for a fourth degree felony charge of breach of a recognizance bond.

Dean E. McKown, age 24, 8389 State Route 821, Whipple, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on an order to show cause.

Robert Oakley, age 24, 1806 9th Avenue Parkersburg, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on an order to show cause.

Carl N. Robison, age 36, 725 Front Street, Marietta, for two counts of contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on an order to show cause.

Roger W. Burkhart, age 37, 417 East Drury Avenue, Kissimmee, FL, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to maintain contact with his probation officer and for failing to show proof of completion of counseling as ordered by the court.

Matthew W. Cole, age 21, Calder Ridge Road 68-8, Belpre, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear for a scheduled appointment, for failing to complete eighty hours of community service and for failing to make restitution as ordered by the court.

David W. Long, age 27, 580 Albright Road, Waterford, or violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear for a scheduled appointment and for failing to complete a seventy two hour Certified Driver Intervention Program as ordered by the court.

Billy E. Moore, age 42, 2138 Maple Fork Road, Bradley, WV, or violating the terms of his probation by failing to show proof of obtaining a valid operator’s license and for failing to appear to serve three days in jail on 29 Mar 04.

Charlene R. O’Neil, age 38, 37239 Fifth Avenue, Belpre, for violating the terms of her probation by failing to make restitution for bad checks and for failing to appear to serve three days in jail on 11 Apr 04.

Jason W. Ross, age 28, PO Box 64 Hill Street, Coal Run, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to maintain contact with the probation department, for failing to complete community service, for failing to pay fines and for failing to appear to serve three days in jail on 5 Apr 04.

Scott E. Bragg, age 24, 1503 Windsor Drive, Charleston, WV, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $390.

Miles M. Cottle, age 27, 1187 Ball School Road, Parkersburg, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $185.

John H. Hart, age 34, 1575 Tick Ridge Road, Vincent, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $193.

Betty L. Nice, age 29, 506 Oakwood Avenue, Stonewood, WV, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $375.

Allen H. Staten, age 28, 7772 Kilpatrick Drive, Uhrichsville, OH, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $135.

Roger L. Ward, age 26, Route 2 Box 258 Township 118, Lowell, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $2083.70.

Ronald L. White, age 42, 116 Grove Street, Marietta, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $173.

Christopher L. Wright, age 24, 9 Dorsey Street Apt. 9, Moundsville, WV, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $230.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

John J. Sparks, age 31, 790 Glendale Road, Marietta, for three felony counts of drug possession, a felony count of receiving stolen property, two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug instruments, four misdemeanor counts of possession of drugs, a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor count obstructing official business. Sparks was arrested on Harmar Street in Marietta by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 30 Apr 04 at 3:45 am.

Christopher Robert Karcher, age 24, Noble Correctional Facility, for breaking and entering, a felony. Karcher was arrested by Patrolman Hickey of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 30 Apr 04 at 5:30 am.

William David Allen, age 48, 710 Ferncliff Drive, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Allen was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Eddy and processed into the Washington County Jail on 30 Apr 04 at 5:45 pm.

Jack Jay Sloter, age 44, 4372 Dixon Ridge Road, Lowell, for .08 breath OVI, a misdemeanor. Sloter was arrested on State Route 676 by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington County Jail on 30 Apr 04 at 9:45 pm.
